1810 and SCHOCK build momentum through innovation and partnership
Bernhard van Ommen F
or The 1810 Company and SCHOCK UK, 2026 has been a year of
significant progress, with the two brands appearing together at KBB Birmingham for the first time since SCHOCK acquired 1810 in 2022. It was an important opportunity to
demonstrate how the brands complement one another, while also providing a platform for new products and concepts. Bernhard says the momentum has continued throughout the year, including through a new partnership with Quooker and developments from SCHOCK in Germany that will reach the UK in January 2027.
Building on strong foundations The progress made this year follows substantial investment during 2025, including a strengthened presence on the road, a new ERP system and changes shaped by customer and market feedback. For Bernhard, the focus during 2026 has been
on turning those foundations into stronger relationships and a better customer experience: “Throughout 2026, we’ve built on those foundations focusing on strengthening partnerships, improving the customer experience and bringing meaningful innovation to market. We are already seeing the results, with strong growth in new customer acquisition and increased recognition from leading industry brands.” The Quooker collaboration has become an important part of that development, with
BKU Editor Matt Broughton speaks with Bernhard van Ommen, Managing Director of The 1810 Company and SCHOCK UK, about a year of growth, innovation, new partnerships and the developments shaping 2027.
SCHOCK’s CRISTADUR® PLUS sinks officially approved for use with Quooker’s 100°C boiling-water taps. The collaboration also opens up further opportunities around coordinated kitchen design, with SCHOCK offering a broad selection of colours and visible components, including its new Aged Brass option.
Innovation at the heart of SCHOCK SCHOCK’s material development remains central to its proposition. The company’s heritage as the inventor of the quartz composite sink has established innovation as a defining part of the brand, with CRISTADUR® and CRISTADUR® Greenline – now merged into CRISTADUR® PLUS – marking successive developments in composite sink technology. September sees another step with the
introduction of AMODUR®, described by Bernhard as the latest material innovation from SCHOCK. “Since introducing the CRISTALITE®material,
which remains an important part of our portfolio, SCHOCK has continuously pushed the boundaries of composite sink technology. This was followed by CRISTADUR® and CRISTADUR® Greenline, now merged into CRISTADUR® PLUS, setting new standards for smooth surfaces, premium aesthetics and everyday performance.” For the brand, innovation also extends beyond
material technology, with colour and design playing an increasingly important role in how sinks contribute to the wider kitchen scheme.
Bernhard recently visited SCHOCK’s new
permanent showroom at Gut Böckel, which opened during Küchenmeile 2026 and hosted the launch of the ‘A DIFFERENCE YOU FEEL’ campaign, alongside the introduction of AMODUR® and additions to the CRISTADUR® PLUS collection.
Looking towards 2027 The 1810 proposition is also continuing to evolve, with the Fireclay collection expanded through new Butler models, including a 795mm fluted-front design designed for 800mm cabinets. Attention is now turning towards AXIX HEX, which Bernhard describes as a significant addition to the company’s premium stainless steel offering. “We still have plenty to look forward to.
AXIX HEX is a significant introduction, bringing together two original 1810 innovations and adding another dimension to our premium stainless steel offering.” Alongside product development, 1810 is
continuing to strengthen the team, with three additions to the office and two new Regional Sales Managers. That investment reflects the company’s wider
focus on personal support as it prepares for its next phase. “Between developments from SCHOCK,
continued innovation within 1810 and an expanding UK team, we have a lot of momentum. Our aim is to finish 2026 strongly and carry that energy into 2027 and beyond.”
