MIRRORS & MIRRORED CABINETS Laura McShane
MyLife expands its proposition with design, availability and service
BKU’s Matt Broughton speaks with MyLife Marketing Manager, Laura McShane, about the growing mirrors and cabinets collection, a major new furniture launch, changing bathroom trends and investment in the company’s future.

irrors and cabinets have become an increasingly important part of
the MyLife portfolio, with the company now offering more than 25 ranges covering illuminated and non-illuminated mirrors, LED cabinets and models with Bluetooth audio. The emphasis is on combining visual appeal with features designed to add practical value to the bathroom. “We’re focused on combining strong design
with practical features, such as adjustable colour temperature and brightness, built-in heated demister pads, ambient lighting, charging sockets and contactless controls,” says Laura. The wider furniture proposition is also about to
undergo a major expansion, with MyLife preparing to launch its largest furniture offering to date in January. The collection will extend the choice available to retailers across a range of styles and price points, with the company responding to the increasingly diverse ways consumers are approaching bathroom design. “On the contemporary side, we’re bringing in
more of the design details we’re seeing consumers respond to including softer, curved forms, fluted and textured finishes, coordinated colour options and furniture-led styling,” Laura explains. “Alongside that, we’re expanding our traditional offering, giving retailers products that deliver a more timeless aesthetic while still incorporating the practicality and flexibility expected from a modern bathroom.” The scale of the launch will allow retailers
to create more individual schemes, with additional choice around sizes, configurations, finishes and styling. “There will be greater choice in sizes,
configurations, finishes and styling, making it easier for retailers to create bathroom schemes that feel distinctive and tailored to their customers,” Laura says. Behind the product development, MyLife is
also investing significantly in its operational infrastructure. A new custom-built 105,000 sq ft headquarters will provide expanded warehousing alongside a customer showroom, training facilities and technical testing areas. “We have a strong pipeline of new products

ft HQ,” says Laura. “Growth is fantastic, but it must be supported by the stock, people and infrastructure to deliver for customers consistently.” The changing nature of bathroom design is
another consideration for the business. While minimalist schemes remain popular, MyLife is seeing greater demand for products with stronger visual character and connections to wider interior trends. “The biggest change has probably been the
move towards more character and personality in the bathroom,” Laura says. “We’re seeing much more interest in fluted detailing, curved and organic forms, statement mirrors, coloured finishes and coordinated details across furniture, brassware and accessories.” Availability remains another important element
of MyLife’s proposition. The company has invested in stockholding and distribution to help retailers work within increasingly demanding project timescales, with average stock availability currently above 95%. “A beautifully designed product is of very little use to a retailer if they can’t get hold of it
when they need it,” Laura explains. “At present, our average stock availability sits at 95%+, while around 63% of our customers receive next- day delivery.” For Laura, the ambition is ultimately to build a
relationship with retailers that goes beyond the traditional supplier role. “We want to be a brand that customers can
genuinely rely on for design, quality, availability and service, but also one that genuinely understands their business,” she says. “Ultimately, we just want MyLife to be associated with good design, good products and good people.” The investment programme will continue into
the coming years, with the new headquarters providing the platform for further growth while the company develops its retailer support. “We’ll also continue investing in our retailer
network, supporting customers with displays, product information, training and marketing to help them sell the ranges effectively,” Laura concludes. “We’ve come a long way since MyLife started, but we still feel like we’re building the business rather than looking back at what we’ve achieved.”
