Chaired by Lord Pickles, former Conservative Communities Secretary, and Lord Blunkett, former Labour Home Secretary, The Parliamentary Review is a series of independent publications which aim to share examples of best practice gathered from organisations across the UK. Sent to over 500,000 leading business executives, policy makers and other relevant individuals, The Parliamentary Review was this year launched at a gala event at Mansion House, the official residence of the Lord Mayor of London.

Tasked with telling the HiB story, managing director Robert Ginsberg contributed his perspective on how targeted innovation, coupled with a strong company culture, can enable any business to thrive, whilst outlining his plans for continuing the success of the business over the coming years. Commenting on HiB's inclusion in the publication, Robert said: "The Parliamentary Review is an extremely prestigious initiative, designed to offer best practice examples to some of the UK's leading politicians and business executives. I am extremely proud of what HiB has achieved over its 30 year history, and it was truly an honour to share our journey, and the insights we have gained along the way. Hopefully, our case study will shine a light on the importance of creating a culture that genuinely nurtures its employees – we have always prioritised our people and dared to think outside of the box, and for us, that has been a truly winning formula." Co-chairman of The Parliamentary Review, Lord Pickles has praised the Review as one of the most comprehensive yet, commenting: “As Britain undergoes changes, it is essential that politicians have a firm understanding of the challenges with which British organisations must contend.” To view HiB’s contribution to the Parliamentary Review, please visit https://www.theparliamentaryreview.co.uk/organisations/hib. BMA CEO said, “We are delighted that members were so generous in support of this important charity. Every pound raised makes a huge difference to the work that they do. The CBT are the only UK children’s charity working nationally, devoted to the rehabilitation and support of burn and scald injured children and their families.”

The CBT also address important issues identified by the national burn injury database. Working closely with the British Burn Association and other organisations such as the National Fire Chief’s Council, they highlight the shocking number of children burnt and scalded each year, and promote good practice to reduce and avoid these dreadful accidents. Recent figures show that across the board, (children and adults), scalds are the most common cause of burn injury, representing 43% of acute burn injuries. It is estimated that on average 110 children per day are seen in emergency departments with burn injuries – 46 as a result of a hot cup of tea or coffee spill.

Yvonne adds, “We are hoping to continue our support from this year’s golf day which takes place on 26 September at the Belfry Hotel and our charity raffle at the Bathroom and Kitchen conference on 08 October.” The BMA supports a Hot Water Burns campaign which is endorsed by Amanda Redman MBE, details and access to the app designed to raise awareness is available from the BMA website here.

There are still places for the 2019 golf tournament and the opportunity to donate a prize for the raffle, please contact Amy.kirk@bathroom- association.org.uk for details.
