Neoperi UK –Helping to Reduce the Flow T

he Neoperl UK factory, situated in Malvern, manufactures over 90% of

the world’s supply of flow regulators. The business has been part of the German- Swiss Neoperl Group since 1996. Overall the Group manufacture Tap Aerators, Check Valves, Flow Regulators, Diverters, Supply Hoses, Pull-out Hoses, Shower Hoses and Swivel Adapters. In the UK they largely manufacture flow

regulators and these regulators can be found in most showers, taps and boilers across the UK. They are a small precision-made part and around 115 million are made by the 160 strong team at Neoperl UK each year, making an enormous difference to the performance of the products that they are fitted in as well as helping to savie water.

“An aerator/ flow regulator can now be easily retrofitted into a tap or shower.”

Flow regulators ensure that a constant water

flow rate is maintained through a shower or tap regardless of external water pressure fluctuations. They are a hidden component, often coupled with Aerators, that can be found in the spouts of virtually all new washbasin, bath and kitchen taps. The aerator is a component positioned in the spout of a tap that shapes the water to produce a full and comfortable stream and adds air to make the water pleasantly soft.

Neoperls latest products can be easily retrofitted

to taps and showers in the home. If you consider that a European standard shower head produces circa. 18 litres of water per minute at 3 bar pressure, that soon adds up when a family is showering for sustained periods of time. Using a flow regulator could reduce this by anything up to 65%. This simply requires a standalone flow regulator incorporating in to the shower head or shower hose*.

“A flow regulator could save 70,000 litres of water a year in an average home from the shower only.”

There’s a choice of flow rates too, this isn’t a

drive to go back to poor performing showers, it’s about considering each shower and tap in the situation it’s been fitted and deciding if a lower flow rate would improve performance and save water, therefore reduce energy bills.

"Mikado creates a beautiful water stream at just over a litre per minute."

If a tap is being fitted into a cloakroom

where the basin is never filled and its primarily used for washing hands, fitting a Neoperl Mikado would substantially reduce the amount of water being used. A typical tap would run at

3-6 litres minimum per minute, whereas the Mikado would reduce the flow to just over a litre per minute.

*Not to be retro fitted in electric showers.
