Industry Update

Ballerina-Küchen’s new UK agent

With over 20 years in the German kitchen market, having worked for some of the best in the

industry, Clive Healey is ideally suited to his new role as Ballerina- Küchen’s UK agent. “It’s a fantastic product with a sleek, modern aesthetic and a wonderful finish. Ballerina has won numerous awards for innovation and service in Germany in recent years. It’s not hard to see why that is, and I fully expect the trend to continue over here in Great Britain. I am genuinely proud to be a part of this partnership” says Healey. Ballerina- Küchen have

demonstrated their

commitment in Europe to retailers and this will now be implemented fully here in the UK in the new drive going forward.

The search is on to find the Golden Ticket in Showerwall’s 500,000th panel

To mark the production of its 500,000th panel, Showerwall has hidden a special Golden Ticket inside the panel’s packaging. When the ticket is discovered, the lucky merchant or retailer, installer and property owner will each win a £500 Love2Shop voucher.

Showerwall, the waterproof bathroom panelling system, offers 56 designs ranging from bold metallics to classic stones and the panel containing the Golden Ticket was placed randomly into stock in May, so it could now be anywhere in the UK. Details on how to claim the prize are printed on the winning ticket.

The initiative was devised by Mark Litherland, Assistant Production Manager for Showerwall. Says Mark: “In true ‘Willy Wonka’ style, there is no way of knowing who will find the Golden Ticket. Because we don’t know where our half a millionth panel will end up in the UK, or the size of the project it will be used for, we don’t know how soon it will be found. We would therefore recommend everyone checks their Showerwall packaging very carefully over the coming weeks in case they have won!”

Kbsa Awards finalists to be announced soon

T

he Kbsa awards 2017 are underway with entries now closed and judges in the process of making their selections for the finalists, which will be announced at the end of July. “It is fantastic to see a great response from our members once again,” says acting Kbsa CEO and Consultant Uwe Hanneck.” Excellence in design is an important part of the ethos for Kbsa retailers and it is important that we recognise and reward it in this way.”

Several new judges have been appointed this year, they include Andrea Hillier, national retail services manager Blum UK; James Herriot, director, Callerton and Dave Hewitt, managing director, Oakwood Bespoke Ltd. They join returning judges Martin Thomas, director, Denmore Kitchen & Bathroom Studio and Renee Mascari, director, Mascari Design Solutions Ltd and CEO of KBBNTG, who is also head judge.

Renee said: “It is always such a pleasure to be involved with the Kbsa awards. The standards of design have been extremely high in the past and I look forward to seeing some strong categories come through this year.”

The entries for the five design awards are judged anonymously by the judges and a shortlist will be released before the end of July. Awards this year include:

• The Kbsa Kitchen Designer of the Year 2017 (under £30k) • The Kbsa Kitchen Designer of the Year 2017 (over £30k) • The Kbsa Bathroom Designer of the Year 2017 • The Kbsa Young Designer of the Year 2017 • The Kbsa Kitchen Concept Designer of the Year 2017

The winners will be announced at the Kbsa AGM Conference and Networking Dinner on Tuesday 3rd October 2017. This takes place at the Welcombe Hotel, Stratford-upon-Avon. This was a sell-out event last year so early booking is advised. Those wishing for further details or to secure tables should contact the Kbsa office on info@kbsa.org.uk
