HOT, COLD & FILTERED TAPS Tamsin Mills
BLANCO
BLANCO’s Brand Communications Manager, Tamsin Mills, talks to BKU about how the BLANCO CHOICE is replacing traditional fixtures like kettles and water filters.
ultifunctional taps are increasingly becoming standard in kitchens due to changing consumer lifestyles, increased focus on efficiency and a growing desire for more sustainable home solutions. Taps like the BLANCO CHOICE are leading the change and setting new standards in kitchen functionality. Offering various water options, the BLANCO CHOICE replaces several traditional fixtures like kettles and water filters. This streamlines the kitchen, reduces clutter and ultimately improves the functionality of the space. As awareness grows around the environmental and financial costs of everyday activities like boiling water, we expect increasing numbers of homeowners to seek out solutions that simplify their kitchen routines, and a multifunctional tap is the ideal starting point.
M
We know that consumers are spending more time at home due to hybrid work schedules, so it’s perhaps no surprise there has been a greater focus on convenience, design and efficiency. As a result, consumers are investing in updates that enhance both the aesthetics and functionality of their kitchens, and we’re seeing that water systems are at the forefront of this trend.
BLANCO CHOICE is the first drink system of its kind available to the UK market, and personalisation is at the forefront of what makes the system so revolutionary. The next generation system offers filtered chilled or boiling water, sparkling water, as well as unfiltered hot and cold water. The system combines the BLANCO CHOICE Icona semi-pro tap with the
CHOICE.All water conditioning unit, which fits discretely under the sink. This comes together to offer a completely customisable experience, from the intensity of bubbles in sparkling water to the exact temperature of hot and cold water and the amount of water dispensed, all at the touch of a button. The Icona tap features an intuitive touch control, with a colour coded LED light ring to indicate boiling, still and sparkling preferences, all at chosen temperatures. Plus, a unique measuring function ensures reduced water consumption by delivering exactly the amount of water needed.
Alongside CHOICE we also launched the BLANCO App to take the functionality and personalisation to the next level. Through the new app, homeowners can create pre-saved settings including the type of water and the ability to dispense the exact amount of water desired, whether it’s for a favourite water bottle or coffee mug.
Since launching BLANCO CHOICE we’ve received positive feedback about the system’s ability to personalise water settings and we’ve seen growing interest in multifunctional taps as homeowners realise the impact they can have on their kitchen’s efficiency. In 2025, we expect continued demand for water systems, driven by concerns about water waste, which currently costs UK homes over £300 annually. Consumers are also looking for more than just functionality, they want a design that complements their kitchen aesthetics. The BLANCO CHOICE Icona tap is currently available in four finishes including brushed stainless steel, black matt, satin dark steel, satin gold, and in 2025, we will be launching additional finishes and Icona spout designs. These new options will cater to a broader range of kitchens, allowing designers and consumers to find a tap that perfectly aligns with both the practical needs and aesthetic requirements of their kitchen.
Looking ahead, we expect a significant shift toward more personalised, eco-friendly, and space-efficient kitchen solutions. The options available on the market today are certainly hitting the mark for many consumers, but there is always room for improvement.
There is a lot of innovation in the tap category at the moment and this year BLANCO is celebrating its 100 year anniversary so we’re looking forward to marking this with exciting new products that will be revolutionary in terms of bringing more options to the market.
