BMA – Five bathroom manufacturers raising the bar
T
he Bathroom Manufacturers Association has celebrated a significant year in terms of environmental gains in the
sector, by hosting its inaugural Sustainability Awards. The ceremony, held
at the Conrad St James Hotel, London, created a buzz amongst members, being one of the first times we have gathered as a large group since the start of the pandemic. It’s fair to say, when
we initially launched these awards six months ago, there was a little trepidation about the response they would receive. But when BMA
members started to submit their entries, we were excited to see the quality of submissions. At the final count we had 22 entries in five distinct categories. It was encouragingly
warm reception, and furthermore, we were elated when we received the incredibly positive independent judges’ feedback. Manufacturers are embracing the transformation of their businesses and
lessening the environmental impact of the sector as a whole. The BMA Sustainability Awards will grow and develop in future, as the
sustainability stories in our sector evolve. We now have more than 50 of the biggest and best names in the world
of bathrooms, and a further 20 affiliate members. Across our membership, these businesses are continuously innovating and researching the water and energy efficient bathrooms of the future. The awards are one way of demonstrating what is being done to help
the environment and maintain consumers’ bathroom experience. It also acts as inspiration to others as we move towards a net zero economy.
The winners in the five categories: • The circular economy award - Roman. • The carbon reduction award - Kohler Mira • The workplace initiative award - Triton • The water efficiency category - Aguardio • The sustainability champion winner - Lee Jones from NBS
The awards sponsors were: Elemental, Unified Water Label Association, Used Kitchen Exchange and Fleet Evolution.
