elcome to the December issue of BKU magazine. As is traditional
at this time of year, we take a look back at some of the companies and stories making the news this year, showcasing all that was worthy of celebration in 2021. As we did last year, we again have to start with
the coronavirus pandemic. While 2021 has in many ways been a huge improvement over the preceding year, the virus has most certainly not gone away, and our sector, like so many, has risen to the challenge of servicing its customers and supplying the world-leading products and services we are so well known for. From the designers who take people’s dreams and turn them into reality, the fitters and the supply chain specialists who ensure that the products end up where they should, and the management teams who ensure that business continues to run smoothly in the most challenging circumstances, this has been a year like no other in showcasing the resilience and determination of our sector to carry on trading and delivering products and services to consumers. You all deserve to be recognised for your efforts this year. On the theme of recognition, we were
delighted to be able to bring the flagship BKU Awards back as a live event this year. As those of you who were there will know, this was a fantastic event, it was so good to see everyone back, to hear people’s stories of managing and thriving in really difficult times, and to recognise
and award excellence in our sector. The winners of our awards were of course the stars of the event, but we would just like to thank everyone who made the gathering the special event it was. We can’t wait to announce the summer 2022 event – watch this space! As far as the Product Review which
follows is concerned, we are showcasing some fantastic companies this year. RAK Ceramics will be known to many of you for its ceramic and gres porcelain wall, floor, countertop tiles and sanitaryware, as will Panelco, industry-leading experts of decorative panels & sheet materials. Meanwhile, Masterclass
Kitchens have been manufacturing beautiful kitchens in the UK since 1975 and are now available from 140+ retailers nationwide, while award-winning manufacturers of high quality kitchen and bathroom furniture Mereway Group has built an enviable reputation for creating beautiful hand-crafted, bespoke kitchens and bathrooms here in the UK. In the bathroom sector, Trojan has become
one of the largest manufacturers of acrylic baths in Europe, with a deserved reputation for high quality products, while in the consumer appliance space, AEGcontinues to innovate and rise to the demands of a changing world.
