KITCHEN SINKS & TAPS

Rangemaster: A strong year for stainless steel sinks

T

he sinks market looks strong and has been growing year-on-year across

both the retail and trade channels. Indeed, there are more designs and styles than ever before. There is no doubt that the general ‘value’ of a kitchen sink is also more widely recognised by consumers and designers alike – no longer is it an item automatically downgraded should a project’s budget be squeezed. As manufacturers continue to introduce new

products and designs, stainless steel remains the most popular material choice when specifying a sink, due to its hardwearing properties and resistance against heat, scratches and stains. The latest models continue to evolve in line with consumer demand, with metallic finishes more prevalent and highly sought after in all areas of interior design. As a result, Gold and Copper are expected to feature heavily throughout kitchens in 2022, as will designs boasting Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD) coatings. Incorporating these striking accents will create a co-ordinated effect

when matched with other metallic finishes in a kitchen, such as on handles or appliance trims. Undermount models remain popular,

particularly in modern kitchens encompassing clean lines and contemporary styling. Such models are very discreet, as they sit under a worktop, creating a successful ‘flow’ through a kitchen – which is of paramount importance when designing a large, open-plan space. Inset sinks, on the other hand, tend to have more of a presence, drawing the eye more to food preparation and washing-up areas. From a practical perspective, the configuration

of the bowl is an important factor. Single-bowl models work well for compact kitchens, while average-sized spaces will benefit from a 1.5-bowl version offering additional space for draining or preparing food. Larger kitchens, with plentiful worktop space, can accommodate double bowls for all-round extra washing and prep room. As consumers look to modernise and improve

their kitchens with the latest products, the retrofit market is in a strong position for the year ahead, particularly in terms of stainless steel sinks.

tainless steel sinks continue to be a popular choice with consumers

looking to update their kitchen with stylish yet affordable products. To meet this demand, Rangemaster is expanding its sinks offering with the new Metrix collection. Perfectly blending style and functionality, Metrix

The single-bowl model measures 950 x

508mm overall and has a slim bowl size of 360 x 424 x 150mm. It also features a reversible drainer with a waste kit included, as standard. The 1.5-bowl model shares the same overall dimensions, with the main and second (half) bowls measuring 340 x 424 x 150mm and 172 x 290 x 80mm respectively. In addition, this sink has the option of being installed with a left- or right- handed drainer. Manufactured in the UK from high grade 18/10

stainless steel, Metrix boasts Rangemaster’s unique Micro-Sheen surface, which offers a soft- brushed appearance with a polished finish.
