2018 Bathroom Predictions – Methven

Comment by Martin Walker CEO, Methven UK

artin Walker, CEO of Methven UK, said: “In the bathroom market in 2018, I think we can expect to see products that feature coloured finishes becoming must-have items, as consumers continue to personalise their bathrooms wherever possible. We’ve had an incredible number of requests for matte black versions of our products throughout 2017, and I think we’ll see black products becoming more prominent generally and even taking market share from chrome. “Bathroom products that feature eye- catching designs are sure to remain in demand next year too; we should see more products coming to market that boast unconventional shapes, such as non-circular

showerheads, and we also expect water efficient products to be more popular than ever in 2018 as awareness of the importance of saving water continues to grow. Products which operate at low flow rates should perform particularly well.

“Connected households continue to increase and so do consumers’ desire for their bathrooms to feature the newest gadgets, so we can also expect to see bathroom-related apps increase in popularity in the new year. Apps that enable water temperature to be controlled remotely, for example, should do very well as they can be used to ensure both younger and older family members are at a reduced risk of scalding, which will appeal to the growing number of consumers living in multi-generational households.”
