feature

fire, safety & security JQ220

rules-based, singular system which will remove ambiguity from the current regime of testing, assessing and classifying fire doors. When do you need to act? The transition period affords specifiers, manufacturers and installers the required time to make adjustments to their testing and classification arrangements, therefore, you don’t need to start specifying or ordering EN-classified products until much closer to the transition date. Given the pace of construction, most projects being designed and built now will still be using BS-classified fire doors without any issues. The key is to maintain a good line of communication with your supplier or manufacturer. They will tell you when it’s time to switch specifications and ensure the products you order meet the right standard at the right time. Lean on your manufacturer for guidance When the time comes, your manufacturer should be your guide through this change. At Forza Doors, we have already begun

EN testing across our ranges, so we’ll be ready well ahead of the deadline. But we’re equally committed to helping customers make informed, timely decisions, without unnecessary disruption to projects already in progress. Ultimately, this change is part of the positive evolution of fire

safety standards. It’s not a reason to overhaul specifications today, and it’s certainly not a cause for panic. Our advice is always to stay in regular contact with your manufacturer and follow their guidance, this way you can always be confident you’ll meet compliance requirements – both now and in the future. The industry’s goal remains the same:

fire doors that perform exactly as intended, when it matters most.
