Sheet Materials
use CNC routers to cut various mediums. However, for a more high-end finish, we use laser cutters. Traditionally we would have used a bandsaw to cut letter faces, but we now find that the use of machines has had a very positive effect on what materials we can now offer to our customers, we also use heating methods, sanding, welding and bending.” With a change in how we use technology, there is also a change to materials. Anna elaborates on how 3D Impact Signs adapt to the times, “With more than 32 years’ experience in the business we have seen a lot of changes with new materials coming onto the market and how we have needed to adapt them to suit our customer needs, but also to make them fit for purpose. This is true of the sustainable materials and the different heating process they require to achieve the same effect. We believe our craftmanship has served us very well in this respect. Using our highly skilled craftsmen, overtime, we have adapted to the latest material trends. Working with the materials by hand allows us to achieve a highly skilled finish and we are able to learn and ‘get a feel’ of what the material is capable of. This allows us to achieve the bespoke signage our customers require.” Highlighting the durability of the materials and quality that 3D Impact use for their signs, Anna describes, “Rimex gold Lion Croft and Rimex patterned material, which is a contrast against The Rising Sun signage that was cut by bandsaw in wood and painted 32 years ago. As one of our first signs, the Rimex
shows how far we have come over time. The wooden faced letter R, with acrylic back and clear stand offs, an example of very effective signage using cost effective materials.”
Anna concludes by telling us, “Using the right material, in the right way, to build up our letters, can not only be very aesthetic to the eye and achieve what the designer wants, but it can also be a long lasting and cost-effective way of achieving stunning signage and reinforce a brand or logo, which is exactly what it should be.”

“Each material needs a different set of skills and knowledge to produce something that is not only pleasing to the eye, but is durable, can be installed and maintained and last weather conditions if situated outside.”
