News Brother completes Mutoh takeover
Brother has parted with roughly £170 million as it completes its acquisition of Mutoh. The companies shook hands officially completing the tender offer on March 23, after it was initially proposed back in February. The settlement then began on March 30, with the Japanese-based company swiftly working to make Mutoh a subsidiary company. Brother now holds a majority (~88%) stake in the large-format printer manufacturer, having purchased 4,589,644 shares. Though it hasn’t fully integrated the business, Brother will look to squeeze-out the remaining shares in the future to take full control.
Mutoh will continue operating under its existing structure in the short term, but integration is expected as Brother looks to streamline operations and maximise efficiencies.

The company is known for its large-format inkjet printers used in signage, textiles and promotional graphics. By bringing Mutoh into the group, Brother gains access to established technology, products and a global customer base in professional print. Brother says the acquisition supports its
long-term strategy to expand into higher-growth industrial printing markets. The company expects synergies through shared R&D, manufacturing and distribution, which could accelerate product development and improve global reach.

Innotech Digital and Display announces Gus from Big Art & Banner, the winner of this year’s Pets in Print competition. He faced stiff competition from a diverse field of entrants that included a bearded dragon and sheep. Gus proved to be small but mighty in his role as production assistant, getting involved in a range of activities, from monitoring artwork to forklift supervision, all while proudly sporting his Pets in Print bandana. The judges particularly noted his dexterity and versatility at work while still posing beautifully. This year’s judges were Gail Coles from The Dogs Trust, Carys Evans from Karis Copp Media, Colin Sinclair McDermott, the Online Print Coach, and Jack Gocher and Kathryn Ridout from Eye on Display. Mr Gocher said: “It was Gus’s work ethic that really earned him first prize. His steely determination as he moved from task to task demonstrated his commitment to the business. It looks as though the company couldn’t do without him.”
This year the competition supported the
work of The Dogs Trust with a donation of £2 for every online order over £150 during March, raising a total of £500.
