And the winner is…

DEEP INTO AWARDS TERRITORY FOR THE YEAR ACROSS ALL INDUSTRIES, WE THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD IDEA TO TAKE A LOOK AT OUR OWN INDUSTRY. SOME AWARDS HAVE BEEN AND GONE, AND OTHERS ARE JUST AROUND THE CORNER, BUT FOR PRINT, BEING RECOGNISED IS AN IMPORTANT THING.

Print is an art form. It takes dedication, skill, and perseverance to turn good projects into great ones. The human element will always be present in the skill and the delicate work that goes into making sure every print is perfect. And like with any art form print can and should to be celebrated for its feats and innovation. Step up a whole plethora of awards ceremonies that

have or are soon to be taking place, celebrating the very best in the industry. At their core, industry awards validate the work that often goes unseen by the wider public. Print and signage are everywhere yet the expertise behind them is frequently overlooked. In a competitive market, that recognition can be

invaluable, helping companies stand out to clients and attract new business.

STARS OF THE SHOW The Sign Industry Awards, for example, highlight the breadth and creativity within signage. From architectural installations to retail displays, they showcase how signage is an integral part of branding and customer experience.

Its most recent rendition was held at the NCC in

Birmingham on Monday, February 23 where hundreds across the sign industry collected to celebrate among industry peers.

Individuals and company achievements were celebrated

alike, and for those walking away with silverware, they have something they could hold in high esteem. Winning or even being shortlisted can elevate a

company’s profile significantly, but just as importantly, it raises the bar across the sector. When one project demonstrates a new level of design or technical excellence, it challenges others to match or exceed it.

The PrintWeek awards do a similar thing, having been held just a few weeks later on March 5; this time at The Brewery in London. Having been part of the calendar for 15 years, it has

the advantage of longevity behind its accolade, with it being seen as a big name within the industry.

ONES TO WATCH It is also important to notice those predicted to make a significant impact moving forward, which is exactly what The Printing Charity does with its Rising Star Awards. These focus on individuals at the beginning

of their careers, acknowledging potential as much as achievement. There have been so many success stories, as it helps

develop the winners’ skills in the industry with a £1,500 reward to pay for training, giving them the confidence to push into this expansive industry. For young professionals, being recognised early builds confidence and fosters a sense of belonging. At a time when attracting new talent is a key concern, initiatives like this play a crucial role in shaping the next generation. This year will be the 17th time the awards will take

place, with nominations having closed at the end of March.

BEST IN SHOW

But what about those who support our innovative industry workers? Those who are there through thick and thin and offer love and care when others may be in equal strain? The industry members I am on about may be slightly hairier than normal, with more legs than normal, but it’s these very workers that are recognised in Innotech’s Pets in Print award. Members of the industry can submit photos of their four-legged friends to Innotech to be judged by a panel. The winner is then presented with a glistening trophy and celebrated for being the best Pet in print. This award acts as a reminder that the industry is not just about precision and performance, but also personality. In an industry defined by constant change, awards

provide both an anchor and a compass. They honour what has been achieved while pointing towards what is possible. And in doing so, they ensure that print and signage continue not just to endure, but to evolve and thrive.
