St Pierre reaches big four milestone


St Pierre has announced new distribution with UK retail giant, ASDA, securing listings on three of its brioche products. The latest win for the UK’s fastest growing bakery brand means that St Pierre can now be found on shelves in Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and ASDA stores nationwide. ASDA will launch St Pierre’s Brioche Burger Buns, Seeded Brioche Burger Buns and Brioche Hot Dog Rolls onto its shelves from the end of April, in time to maximise summer sales. The news comes as St Pierre launches a new pack size of its Brioche Burger


Harry Gow wins big at Scottish Baker of the Year Awards


A Highland bakery has been lauded by fellow bakers and the cake-loving public, winning big at the 2022 Scottish Baker of the Year Awards. Harry Gow is celebrating after its vanilla and raspberry slice – better known to fans as the ‘birthday cake slice’ – was named the Best Individual Cake in Scotland at a glittering award ceremony in Glasgow. The family-run bakery also scooped


the Customer Choice award in the Retail Craft Baker category, cementing the firm’s position as the nation’s favourite bakery chain.

said: “Our family has been baking in the Highlands for six generations, so to win the customer choice award at the Scottish Baker of the Year Awards – receiving votes from the customers and communities we share a laugh with in our shops every day – is truly special. “Our vanilla and raspberry slice has


been a firm favourite ever since we introduced it at the beginning of the century, so to have it named as the best cake in the country is a testament to the consistent work of the bakers in our Smithton bakery. “We couldn’t have won either of these awards without the hard work of our team, both in our bakery and in our shops across the Highlands and Moray. They are the people that make Harry Gow what it is today.”

has been developed in


partnership with Treetop Biopak. The C-Range of compostable bio-plastic packaging has similar


properties and look and feel as conventional plastic and also includes shrink wrap, stretch wrap, cling film, adhesive tape, and nets. The products will biodegrade if disposed of properly through home composting or industrial composting, depending on the material. As part of their selection process, the bags were initially tested at Nonna Tonda and proved perfectly suited to the production and supply chain requirements. The bags protect and preserve the product delivered by post and present an effective print design for the brand. The C-Bag is ideal for fresh produce and bakery. It is bio-based from


renewable resources using versatile materials supplied in various grades. C-Bag without the zipper has TUV certification, which was developed


to guarantee complete biodegradability in garden compost heaps and other slower-paced processes. With the zipper, it is industrially compostable. The C-Bag has excellent impact and puncture resistance, good material perforation, and can be used as a carrier or waste bag for food and non-food applications.
