regulatory requirements are met with every project. The company is ISO 9001-2015

certified and has established its own documented Quality Management System, a process for developing and regularly reviewing objectives, whilst also providing a means for continuous improvement. With its new machine capabilities,

APELC is well positioned to continue serving the aerospace, defence and power-generation markets.

A new line of connectors In addition, APELC just announced a new line of quick-disconnect connectors for high-voltage coaxial cables. The APELC High-Visibility Fail-Safe Indication System (see image above) provides a simple method of connection, whereby a bright-red ring is exposed when the connector is not fully engaged. The connector is designed such that no in-between state is possible. The connector was designed with input

from multiple DOE laboratory partners and integrates several design features not readily available in connectors currently on the market, including: • Beryllium-free contacts;

• High-conductivity Bal Seal electrical contacts for ground and the centre conductor (Bal Seal is a jacket material that delivers the perfect combination of friction and sealing effectiveness);

• Graded termination of the ground conductor for reduction of field enhancements. The male side of the connector resides

APELC offers manual inspection, where required

at atmosphere, whereas the female side provides an O-ring seal for use in either pressurised environments up to 200psi or transformer oil. Both the centre and outer conductors of the connector make electrical contact through a Bal Seal spring contact. The female connector provides an 8-32 brass stud for termination onto a ring lug. The conducting body of both male and

• No threaded connection to engage the male and female components, reducing the risk of cross-threading and/or metal shavings causing flashover;

• Nickel and Alodine coatings for corrosion resistance;

• Secondary release mechanism (set- screw) for additional safety; • Integrated strain relief;

female connectors is made from brass, which can be nickel plated upon request. The female side provides a 1” thread for bulkhead mounting and an external O-ring for sealing against the bulkhead. Other mounting methods, like a 4-hole pattern, are available upon request. The APELC High-Visibility Fail-Safe

Indication quick-disconnect connector is available in a range of models, for use with most high-voltage cables available today.
