The agreed project ROI is less than one year for the new systems and infrastructure investment, led by a 35% increase in voice-driven picking productivity. Making lifting equipment more affordable

LIFTING EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST, Konecranes, has welcomed the introduction of the tax super-deduction initiative as a massive boost for UK industry. Under the scheme, announced in the Chancellor’s March budget,

companies can claim 130% capital allowances on qualifying plant and machinery investments made between 1 April 2021 and 31 March 2023. This upfront super-deduction will allow companies to cut their tax bill by up to 25p for every £1 they invest. Firms will also benefit from a 50% first-year allowance for qualifying special rate assets, including long life purchases. The policy has been introduced to encourage investment and promote UK industrial recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and the associated lockdown. The launch of the HM treasury scheme comes at a time when Konecranes has been

introducing its own initiatives to promote industrial investment and make the acquisition of new lifting equipment more affordable.


Union Industries, the UK’s leading manufacturer of high-speed industrial doors, has completed the supply and installation of six of its rapid-roller doors at Premier Foods’ Carlton bakery in Barnsley. This is the second time that Leeds-based Union Industries has supplied doors to the site in

to have two types of rapid-roller doors from Union Industries’ market-leading range installed – the Bulldoor and Matadoor. The Bulldoor is the most versatile and popular door in the range, for internal or external, heavy

traffic doorways. Known as the ‘reliable workhorse’ of rapid-roll doors, many of Union Industries’ existing customers place repeat orders for new Bulldoors due to the robustness and reliability of this extremely successful door. The Matadoor is for internal openings and is ideally suited for high-volume traffic, whether

the quality of components used in the Bulldoor that we had installed back in 2005.” William added: “The fact it’s the only remaining original high-speed door on site is testament to

the robustness and reliability of these doors.” Union was up against tough competition for this project of replacement doors with their

Composite pipe repair extends pipe life by 20 years & cuts costs for EDF

The decision by power generation company EDF to repair, rather than replace, leaking pipework at its nuclear power plant in Bugey has proved hugely beneficial both practically and financially. Maintenance engineers used Henkel’s LOCTITE® Composite Pipe Repair System to restore the integrity of 170m of fresh water pipes, a process that was undertaken without the need to stop production and at a cost that was 35% less than the replacement value. The LOCTITE Composite Pipe Repair System is a
