Robert Gillman | Director of Gillman’s Appliance Specialists, Gloucester
The retailer is no stranger to this shop-in- shop format, with several others in its store, but comparing them, Mr Gillman says the Smeg area really stands out thanks to the bright coloured appliances and retro product displays. So how did this partnership come about? Mr Gillman explains: “I started talking to Kris Horley and Beckie Vidotto [one of Smeg’s new Business Development Managers]; we met up and they showed me some of their latest products and we discussed lots of ideas.

is very proactive in making sure we always have everything we need and stock is kept up to date. “The main thing for me is that Smeg is a quality, premium brand – one that needs to be seen and touched before it’s bought. And I’m a believer in that, so I was really keen to get them in store.” As well as pure sales, Gillman’s is also a service provider, offering product installation and aftercare services. Mr Gillman wanted to extend this to Smeg products, so his team of engineers were fully trained by the manufacturer. “We are now a one-stop-shop,” he continues, adding: “Smeg’s website is like a shop window

for the brand – all its products clearly listed with prices and consumer offers – but the key thing is its retailer referral system. We are listed as a Premio Partner and the site directs customers in the local area straight to us to complete their purchase, which is what it’s all about!”
One of the newest Smeg partners is Hosies in Scotland. Work was completed in August on a large new display zone and demo kitchen, with a whole range of appliances on show, plus the brand’s new
