ASKO’s Craft Glass built-in oven
AEG’s 6000 SaphirMatt Induction Extractor Hob 83 cm
Aesthetics are increasingly influencing consumer decisions. Modern buyers prefer appliances that integrate seamlessly into open- plan kitchens. AEG has responded with sleek, minimalist designs and a palette that includes the highly popular matt black finish, seen across the 7000 MealAssist Oven and 8000 MealAssist Microwave and Oven. Digital interfaces and AI technology enhance these products, making them intuitive and easy to use. The result is appliances that help home cooks produce restaurant-quality dishes while maintaining a contemporary, uncluttered kitchen environment. When asked why consumers are embracing
more home cooking and baking, Mr George notes: “Kitchens are now hubs of creativity, comfort, and social connection. Lockdown habits and inspiration from social media have encouraged more cooking and baking. There’s also a renewed focus on healthier eating, and of course, baking spikes in popularity whenever The Great British Bake Off returns to our screens.” He explains that social media and online
recipe platforms have created a culture in which aspiring cooks can feel both motivated and capable, while practical concerns such as cost and diet continue to influence behaviour. AEG supports this enthusiasm through collaborations with influencers, showing how great-tasting food can be prepared with their appliances. Mr George outlines some of the ways AEG’s latest products address evolving consumer needs. The brands new built-in range, including the 8000 SteamPro Built-in Oven, is designed with open-plan kitchens in mind. The SaphirMatt induction hobs feature a sleek matt black finish and glass that is four times more scratch-resistant than standard surfaces, as seen in the 6000 FlexiBridge SaphirMatt Induction Hob. The 6000 SaphirMatt Induction Extractor Hob combines style with practical technology, including a two-in- one filter that removes odours and grease and is dishwasher safe. SenseBoil technology, found in
the 7000 Induction Hob, prevents spills and saves energy by automatically adjusting the temperature as water boils. Meanwhile, AI TasteAssist, integrated into the 7000 MealAssist Oven, recommends optimal cooking settings via the AEG app, ensuring perfect results every time. “These innovations are all about making cooking more efficient, enjoyable, and sustainable,” Mr George adds. Michael Forbes, Lead Product Trainer at AEG, emphasises the role of independent retailers in bringing these innovations to life: “High-quality showrooms allow consumers to experience how AEG appliances fit into real kitchens. In-store demonstrations are one of the most effective ways to engage customers and highlight the full functionality of our products.” He adds that powering appliances in-
store and connecting them to Wi-Fi allows shoppers to interact with smart features like AI TasteAssist, demonstrating their full potential. AEG also invests heavily in supporting retailers
through training and events. Michael explains: “Our retailer-focused training managers provide in-depth product knowledge, helping staff deliver compelling demonstrations. We also host regular training at our AEG Academy in Luton and attend major industry events so consumers can experience our appliances first-hand.”
Cooking as a Lifestyle
Jag Sandhu, National Account Manager at ASKO, observes that the world of home cooking has undergone a noticeable shift. “What was once a functional necessity has evolved into a favoured pastime,” he explains. Cooking is no longer treated as a daily task to get through, but as an opportunity for creativity, experimentation, and self-expression through flavours, textures, and ingredients. The process itself has become just as important and enjoyable as the finished plate. This change in attitude has transformed the modern kitchen. No longer tucked away as a
purely practical workspace, it has become the social centre of the home, somewhere families and friends gather, cook, and connect. Mr Sandhu notes that kitchen design has evolved to reflect this, embracing open layouts that blur the boundaries between cooking and socialising. Appliances, too, have had to adapt, with consumers now expecting products that elevate both performance and aesthetics to suit their lifestyle.
The rise of home cooking and baking shows no sign of slowing. What began as a lockdown hobby has grown into a long-term lifestyle trend, fuelled in part by social media. “Platforms like Instagram, TikTok and Pinterest have made recipes and techniques more accessible,” Mr Sandhu says. The constant stream of inspiration has encouraged people to experiment more and develop confidence in the kitchen. As a result, consumers now aspire to recreate restaurant- quality dishes at home, driving demand for appliances that offer precision, power, and beautiful design. “Ultimately, home cooks want to feel empowered to achieve exceptional results with ease,” he adds. To meet these evolving expectations, ASKO has introduced its latest innovation to the UK: the Celsius NYACRAFT Oven Range. Built using premium materials, the collection combines clean Scandinavian design with advanced cooking technology to deliver professional-level performance for the home chef. Central to the range is ASKO’s Celsius Cooking technology, which uses intelligent sensors and load detection to assess the quantity of food and automatically adjust steam and humidity levels. This ensures optimal flavour, texture, and nutrient retention with every dish. The system can even open the oven door automatically when ventilation is required, helping achieve consistently perfect results. The range also offers one-degree Celsius
precision control across both ASKO hobs and ovens, giving users chef-level accuracy whether frying, simmering, or slow-cooking. Temperature is monitored at the base of compatible pots and pans as well as within the food itself, thanks to an intelligent probe that enables exact control over heat and timing. Multi-stage cooking adds further convenience by allowing home cooks to pre-programme a sequence of cooking functions, simplifying complex recipes and bringing professional techniques into everyday kitchens. >>
