Belling’s ComfortCook induction hob

ComfortCook induction hobs, meanwhile, use

durable Schott Ceran glass, which is extremely resistant

to impact, and feature a front bevel to prevent accidental chips in the glass when transferring a pan from the countertop. All the new induction models come with a boost mode for a burst of power – meaning cooks can boil water 30 per cent faster, Belling reports. And for added flexibility, selected models come equipped with a Link+ bridge which allows cooks to join two hob zones together into one to create a larger surface for a grill or fish pan. There are also ComfortCook gas hobs – with options for ribbon iron or cast iron pan supports, and for home cooks who love to rustle up a stir fry, there’s a power wok burner for extra heat. And of course, hob-top cooking is great but decent extraction of heat, fumes and odours is just as important to ensure a more pleasant dinner time. Offering one alternative solution, Bertazzoni launched in November its first induction top range cooker with integrated extraction. The 90cm model – seen below – sits in the Italian brand’s signature Professional Series and integrates three appliances in one – oven, induction cooktop and hood. The induction cooktop has four active heating zones which surround the integrated hood. Designed

to capture grease, odours and steam at the source, the central ventilation grid (above) has nine power levels and a boost function. The hood’s ‘automatic’ knob setting adjusts power automatically according to the number and power of the induction zones actually used. Available in six colourways – black, white,

yellow, orange, red and stainless steel – the oven has a 103L capacity, 11 functions and electronic digital programmer with a food probe.

“This range cooker offers the very best in modern and efficient technology,” says Maurizio Severgnini, MD of Bertazzoni UK and Eire, “cooking effectively and with streamlined extraction at the source. “The technical know-how of our product

development team is second-to-none and that, combined with the manufacturing capabilities of our global facility in Italy, has resulted in the creation of a truly exceptional cooker.”

‘For the adventurous home chef’ IFA returned to Berlin once again in September, with hundreds of appliance brands showcasing their latest solutions. German company, Kaiser, was there with its new built-in electric oven, part of the manufacturer’s La Perle collection. With high levels of functionality “to suit the adventurous and meticulous home chef”, it says, the oven benefits from a generous cooking capacity, a multitude of cooking functions and a large TFT screen for intuitive ease of use.

Also on display was the Kaiser Grand Chef electric built-in oven, with intelligent air fryer. This allows users to produce crispy and succulent foods without the addition of any oil or fat. Showcased alongside complementary built-in microwave ovens, the Grand Chef oven is available in stainless steel, or stylish black glass, and also has a temperature probe to detect the internal temperature of meat, fish and poultry; once the food has reached the desired temperature, the oven will automatically switch off. Speaking exclusively to ERT at IFA, Niko Skarlatos, Director of Kaiser Appliances UK, said: “Our presence at the show gives kitchen retailers the chance to see, touch and hear about our distinctive collection of appliances. “We are continually expanding our offering for the UK market and hope to welcome even more retailers in the near future.”

An airfrying frenzy! Cooking like a true professional means relying on the latest and greatest appliances to, in some cases, actually do the “heavy lifting”. There is a growing collection of very sophisticated ovens and hobs on the market; however, amidst the cost-of-living crisis and concerns over the energy consumption of these home essentials, suddenly the smarter and cheaper-to-run alternative kitchen gadgets have become very popular. We are talking, of course, about air fryers! When it comes to the viral food trends the nation has built into their cooking routines, air frying comes out top; four in 10 UK adults now use air fryers as a healthier option to deep fry food, according to Samsung. Chips, chicken and potatoes are the most popular foods to air fry, followed by less obvious options such as salmon, meatballs and steak. In addition, the tech giant’s latest study also revealed that almost six in 10 people have tried a cooking hack or recipe they have seen on social media. Helpful hacks and recipes on platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and TikTok are influencing the nation’s cooking habits on daily basis.
