COOK LIKE A PRO Home Appliances

Master chef!

As more and more budding home chefs are experimenting with fancier food at home, the increased use of specialist kitchen appliances is something retailers should take note of.

20 C

onsumers are taking more time nowadays to cook at home for their family and friends, taking pride in their kitchens and using these spaces to unwind or entertain. Shoppers will always require the essential appliances, but research shows that they are also browsing higher- spec, more professional-grade products to help them hone their cooking skills while attempting to serve up gourmet grub.

And furthermore, the cost-of-living crisis is going to have a significant impact of people’s ability to spend money eating out; so instead it is likely that consumers will try to recreate their favourite ‘eat out’ meals at home. Whether it’s replicating that favourite Italian meal or making marinades to rival Nando’s chicken, home appliances that can help users create as close to professional dishes as they can, and also make the cooking experience that much easier, are definitely on the rise.

Multifunctional appliances enable users to cook like a pro and gain the benefits of owning numerous products, while taking the space of just one. Ovens and microwaves with an integrated steam cooking function are a prime example of this; for the health- conscious consumer, cooking with steam requires no additional fats or oils and allows users to create nutritious meals with perfect results. Sharp Home Appliances unveiled its new Smart Home range at IFA this year; included in this is the Stealth Steam Built-in Oven range. Headlined by the KA-74Z68BNH Multifunctional Built-in Oven (pictured top of page), the series encompasses a trio of 78-Litre capacity models – with AquaAssist+ functions, Sharp says they can give any cook “the ultimate culinary advantage!”

New electric and gas double ovens from Montpellier

Automatically adding water to the bottom of the

cavity, it creates a water bath to keep dishes as well as baking from drying out. In addition, the brand also launched the extra-

large capacity 78-litre Smart Built-in Oven. Thanks to its integration with recipe platform, Innit, the oven is able to calculate and set the ideal cooking conditions for hundreds of customisable Innit recipes, when synced with the app through a Sharp Home account.

Elsewhere, Montpellier Appliances has recently launched a brand new freestanding cooking range, including a 50 and 60cm-wide double oven electric and gas cookers in three colours, and a new collection of country-style mini range cookers in electric, dual fuel and gas. Andy Slingsby, Product Manager for Montpellier,

tells ERT: “Our cooking range is always extremely popular in the retail market, particularly owing to our competitive pricing, features and availability. “In our new range we have upgraded features,

including easily removable inner door glass to clean with ease, upgraded glass lids on gas models, LED minute minders and fully programmable timers, catalytic self-cleaning liners and matt enamel and cast iron pan supports.” With a focus on energy efficiency, all new models have a minimum ‘A’ energy rating and the gas models have an A+ energy rated main oven. Increased volume across the range also makes them even more energy efficient than before.

Cooking comfortably Offering a built-in collection of ovens, hobs, hoods and microwaves, Belling has its ComfortCook range, “designed to make every day cooking simple and joyful”, the brand says.

The ovens in the range have an array of features including intense bake, slow cook or pizza settings, and each model comes with Equiflow technology, which spreads the heat evenly no matter which oven shelf is used.
