What did we ask Alexa most in 2024?

For many, Alexa has become a household essential, whether it’s lending a hand in the kitchen, delivering the latest football scores, or settling debates about random trivia. Amazon’s 2024 Alexa Trends Report gives us a fascinating glimpse into the questions, routines and quirks of UK users in the past year:

The big questions:

Elsewhere, Anker recently introduced its Motion X500 Portable High Fidelity Speaker, enhanced by Soundcore’s customised spatial audio algorithm and a high-end DSP. It has been certified to provide wireless hi-res audio and is compatible with the LDAC codec, which is exclusive to Android. In the headphones category, the brand is also launching new Bluetooth voice-controlled earbuds. It says the new buds will be a leap in the user experience, enabling hands-free operations that previously would have required physical button pressing. “The integration of voice technology combined with Artificial Intelligence will create smarter,

more intuitive and user-friendly solutions,” Anker’s UK Brand Manager, Dorothy Li, tells ERT. “This wave of innovation is going to reshape our daily experiences spanning music streaming and gaming.

“Moving forward, we will continue to leverage this technology to develop even more intelligent earbuds. The rise of AI in the audio industry is not just revolutionising hardware and software, but also setting new standards for user expectations. As we integrate these advanced audio features into our daily routines, they enrich our cultural and musical experiences in unprecedented ways, heralding a new era of innovation in audio technology.” Ms Li says that manufacturers must work hard to bring audio products to life throughout the

purchase journey, and that retailers play a crucial role in this process… “It is essential to create truly immersive experiences and engaging storytelling to educate on key features and benefits.” Examples include high quality demo stations featuring curated playlists or soundscapes to showcase different audio attributes; staff engagement to translate technical features into simple terms; rich content like videos to demonstrate products in real-life situations, such as a busy coffee shop or a workout; and user-generated content and testimonials showcasing genuine experiences and authentic reviews.

Europe, comments: “For electrical retailers, demonstrating these benefits through in-store displays to highlight hands-free commands

• “What is the value of bitcoin?” • “What is the population of Earth?” • “What does AI mean?”

Celebrities in the spotlight: Alexa users in the UK couldn’t get enough of Taylor Swift; fans frequently asked about her height, age and net worth. She even topped the list of most-played artists. Other popular names included David Attenborough and Paul McCartney.

Your personal Sous Chef: Recipes for pancakes overtook Yorkshire puddings as the most requested in 2024. Other popular recipes included: • Banana bread • Cake pops • Mango ice cream • Halloumi stuffed peppers

Is it coming home? Premier League updates were high on the list of questions last year, but during England’s Euro 2024 run fans really got involved, asking: • “What time does the England match start?” • “Alexa, is it coming home?”
