Celebs gather in London for 2023 TRIC Awards
This year marks 54 years of the TRIC Awards and last month’s winners were announced at a star-studded ceremony in London.t The glamorous Awards event – in partnership with
Euronics – once again celebrated the nation’s favourite TV and radio programmes and personalities, all voted for by the public. The afternoon lunch – where ERT was a trade media partner – was hosted by TRIC president Rob Rinder and co-hosted by Judi Love; there was also a very special performance by Fleur East. Hundreds of celebs filled The Great Room at
Grosvenor House on Park Lane to find out who would walk away with a prestigious TRIC gong. Bradley Walsh was named best TV Personality, while once again Roman Kemp, who presents the Capital Breakfast Show, picked up the Radio Personality award – for the fourth year in a row! Meanwhile, Julie Hartley Brewer won Best Radio
Programme this year for her TalkTV/Radio Breakfast show, while GB News Breakfast picked up the Best Multichannel News Programme and That Peter Crouch Podcast won the Best Podcast category. Awards were also given to Peaky Blinders for
drama, Gogglebox for entertainment, A Place In The Sun for daytime, After Life for streamed TV, and The Great British Bake Off for food. Danielle Harold, who played EastEnders character
Lola Pearce-Brown, received the Soap Actor trophy. Emmerdale won Soap of the Year and The Chase was announced Best Game Show. Elsewhere, the gong for Factual was awarded to
Paul O’Grady: For The Love of Dogs, which led to an emotional tribute to the late TV presenter, Mr O’Grady, who died earlier this year. TalkTV’s Piers Morgan collected the trophy for Interview of the Year after footballer Cristiano Ronaldo’s explosive appearance on his show last year.
Nigel Farage was announced as the winner of
News Presenter; he joined GB News in November 2021 and has even interviewed former US president Donald Trump on the channel. Finally, ITV breakfast news show GMB, which
features Susanna Reid and Ed Balls among its presenters, picked up the TRIC 2023 Special Award, and James Whale was awarded the first ever Recognition Award for his outstanding work and dedication to radio, TV and online. He was surprised with the award by presenter Lizzie Cundy separate to the TRIC ceremony earlier this year.
Bigger than ever TRIC Chair, Daniel Todaro, said: “I’m so proud to be Chair and to have been involved in the 54th TRIC Awards, recognising the talent in broadcast media, raising money on their behalf for good causes. “This year’s Awards were bigger than ever with
1,100 guests all waiting in anticipation to find out who the winners were! We had a staggering 1.6 million votes cast this year and once again we were so pleased to stream the Awards on the ScreenHits TV platform so even more people could take a front row seat and watch all the action! Similar to the 2022 TRIC Awards, this year’s event was once again in partnership with the Euronics buying group. Paul Tyler, CEO of Euronics in the UK, said it was another hugely entertaining event, and a great opportunity to catch up with members and suppliers from across the electrical retail industry. “The event is a celebration of success within
the broadcasting industries, but also the important work with the charities and communities it supports,” he commented. “The Awards reflects the ethos of Euronics; we are one big family and we all care about what we do.”
