ANALYSIS: PREMIUM SDA Home Appliances

“The SDA market is continuously evolving, particularly in terms of product design and functionality,” Bluestem says. “Manufacturers are incorporating sleek and modern designs that

complement both traditional and 24

contemporary kitchen settings.” The company says it’s up to retailers to showcase the products and appliances in the most attractive way to the consumer; they should conduct live demonstrations of products, allowing customers to see the features and functionality first hand. “Placing QR codes on product information signage can lead customers to videos showcasing the product’s features, usage tips and recipes, providing a comprehensive understanding of the product.” Elsewhere, Gastroback’s 8-in-1 62527 Design Multicook Pro comes with a series of pre-set multi-function programs for rice porridge, cook and keep warm one-pot dishes, soups and steaming vegetables and cake baking. The appliance includes features such as; 3D heating system, non-stick inner container with a scale, cooking times preset that can be individually adjusted and it also includes overheating protection.

The company also says that it will be

announcing “a number of new innovations” at IFA in Berlin this year. Marcus Lux, Head of Gastroback UK Export and Business Development, explains that consumers have an idea of what they want

to spend their

money on, especially at the premium end of the market, so they are only really looking for versatility and innovation. He adds: “We understand that space is a

premium within most stores, but one way that our colleagues in other countries are selling SDA is when the products are grouped by brand – all combined in one place, perhaps on a table or display unit, rather than by category throughout the store – to help create a story.”

Air-verything to do with fryers Cooking like a true professional means relying on the latest and greatest appliances to actually do most of the work for the consumer. And amidst the cost-of-living crisis and concerns over the energy consumption of most home appliances, suddenly cheaper-to-run air fryers have become a craze!

When it comes to the viral food trends the nation has built into their cooking routines, air frying comes out top; four in 10 UK adults now use air fryers as a healthier option to deep fry food, according to research.

Beko has the ExpertDry Dual Zone Hot Air Fryer with two cooking zones and a combined capacity of 8.5 litres. It also includes the Smart Finish feature that synchronises cooking times for timed dishes. The Dual Zone programme allows independent use of each compartment. Bluestem also offers the Statesman five litre Air Fryer, as well as both 11 litre and 15 litre capacity Air Fryer Ovens, so there is an option for all different households. It is also offering an eight litre Dual Drawer Air Fryer, which is exclusive to the Euronics buying group. Elsewhere, The Funky Appliance Company says: “When we started the business, we were always looking at the mid to premium sector – and we have added products to the range with that original thought in mind. “We started with the Funky Iron, adding in the Funky Kettle and Toaster along the way; now we are currently going through a round of crowdfunding for our Funky Air Fryer, which is due to launch in September.”

Following on from the Funky Air Fryer, the company is set to introduce its housewares range. This includes the Funky Bread Bin, Funky Mug Tree, Funky Kitchen Roll Holder and three Funky Storage Canisters. If this wasn’t enough, the brand also has a Cookware range coming out soon, plus a new a two-slice toaster coming in 2024. Joe Sillett, Co- Founder and CEO of the Funky Appliance Company, says: “Our focus is on producing quality good

looking

products, that are

simple

to use and are as efficient as possible. Where some products in the marketplace are using advanced technology, we made a conscious decision not to over-complicate with features other than the strong key functionality consumers now expect.

Meanwhile, RKW explains how it launched

its premium air fryer range Elite under its brand, Tower. The collection is made up of the Tower Elite 10.4 litre Dual Basket air fryer (pictured over page) which has been created with stainless steel and enhanced features. The 1,700W power model incorporates Tower Vortx technology that will save consumers up to 70 per cent on energy costs. >>
