RANGE REVIEW: TILES & TILING

MARLBOROUGH TILES REIMAGINES ITS AWARD-WINNING LUSTRE COLLECTION

Marlborough Tiles has unveiled a contemporary reimagining of its award-winning Lustre collection, originally introduced in the early 1990s.

andmade in the company’s Wiltshire factory, the new collection of Lustre finish tiles celebrates one

of Marlborough’s most distinctive ranges with seven newly developed colours that showcase the depth, beauty and craftsmanship of traditional Lustre glazing.

Reimagined Lustre collection Drawing inspiration from the decorative elegance of historic European interiors – from the

opulence of Marie Antoinette’s France to the refined symmetry of the Georgian era – the reimagined Lustre collection translates classical influences into modern living spaces. A softly textured surface and luminous finish create walls with depth, character and understated luxury.

At the heart of the collection is Marlborough’s signature hand- glazed lustre finish. Rather than a conventional glossy surface, each tile possesses a subtle iridescence that gently reflects its surroundings, revealing delicate shifts in tone and

depth as natural and artificial light changes throughout the day. The new palette, carefully developed in Marlborough Tiles’ Wiltshire lab, introduces a considered range of colours such as Duck Egg Blue, Sunset Pink and Shadow Green. Spanning soft neutrals, delicate pastels and richer statement shades, the collection has been carefully curated to work harmoniously together or as individual focal points. As with all Lustre glazes, each colour responds uniquely to its surroundings, with light, neighbouring materials and interior finishes subtly influencing its reflective appearance. As Marlborough Tiles celebrates its 90th anniversary, the reimagined Lustre collection honours nine decades of British craftsmanship. Originally launched in the early 1990s by second-generation owner Alastair Robb, the Lustre collection was the last range he curated before handing the family business to the next generation, led by his son Jamie Robb. Today, every Lustre tile continues to be individually
