ADVERTISEMENT FEATURE Stax announces three major moves
Exclusive JCB lamp distribution, the acquisition of the Manor brand and a new Treadstone partnership underline Stax’s dynamic approach to growth
Stax Trade Centres is marking the start of the second year of its management buyout with three significant developments that demonstrate its continued focus on strengthening its product offer, deepening supplier relationships and delivering greater value to independent retailers. The wholesale specialist has secured exclusive distribution of JCB lamps in the wholesale sector, acquired the Manor brand from Apollo Garden, and partnered with award-winning gardening glove specialist Treadstone Products to bring its premium ClipGlove range and wider collection to Stax customers from January 2027. The three moves reflect the dynamic
approach being taken by the Stax management team as it builds on the company’s established strengths while continuing to identify new opportunities across its core categories.
Stax secures exclusive JCB lamp distribution Stax and Supreme are extending a relationship that has spanned more than four decades, with a new strategic partnership that will see Stax take on exclusive distribution of JCB lamps within the wholesale sector.
JCB is already an important supplier to Stax across multiple categories, including building tools and batteries. The new agreement further strengthens the relationship and provides an opportunity to develop the JCB lighting proposition within the independent retail and trade market. Simon Wright, Managing
Director of Stax Trade Centres, said: “We’ve worked with Supreme for 40 years and have grown alongside them over more than four decades. This new partnership is a natural extension of that relationship and we’re delighted to be taking on exclusive wholesale distribution of JCB lamps.”
Building the next chapter for Manor Stax has also acquired the Manor brand from Apollo Garden, with plans to build on its almost 40-year heritage and establish Manor as its leading brand in the heating and fireside category.
The acquisition will see Stax develop the established name with an enhanced range and a clear focus on the needs of today’s independent retailer, combining quality, choice and commercial value.
Manor will form an important part of Stax’s continued development of its heating and fireside category, supported by the company’s extensive wholesale network and relationships with independent retailers across the UK.
A dynamic approach to year two The three developments come as Stax enters the second year since its management buyout, led by Joint Managing Directors Simon Wright and Nigel Wright.
The business is continuing to invest across its product portfolio and supplier network, combining the scale and infrastructure of an established national wholesaler with an agile approach to identifying opportunities for its independent retail customers. From exclusive distribution agreements with major global brands, to acquiring established brands and introducing innovative new products, Stax is continuing to broaden its offer while remaining focused on the needs of the independent retailer. Simon Wright added: “Year two is about continuing the momentum we’ve built.
We’re constantly looking at where we can improve our offer, bring something different to our customers or create new opportunities for our suppliers. These three announcements demonstrate that approach – being proactive, commercially focused and prepared to move quickly when the right opportunity comes along.”
Treadstone partnership expands Stax’s gardening offer Further strengthening its gardening proposition, Stax has partnered with award-winning Treadstone Products to become its distributor to the independent retail sector. Treadstone will provide Stax customers with a premium range of practical and innovative gardening gloves, headed by its best-selling ClipGlove, which features an aluminium carabiner clip designed to keep a pair of gloves together. The wider collection uses carefully selected textiles for specific applications, from skin-friendly bamboo fibres to technologically advanced cut-resistant fibres and durable synthetic leathers. The range includes products designed to make gardening easier, safer and more sustainable. Simon Wright said: “This deal bolsters our growing gardening portfolio, with Outdoor Living and Gardening maintaining their status as core categories for Stax. Our customers want greater choice, with modern ranges, and for Stax to add value at every opportunity.” Marco Abbiati, Managing Director of Treadstone Products Ltd, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Stax to bring our award- winning ClipGlove range to a wider audience and new markets. With a collection that includes several BBC Gardeners’ World Magazine Best Buy products, we believe this partnership represents an exciting opportunity for both businesses.” All three brands will be represented at Stax’s Big Brands Show at Stax Manchester on 16 and 17 September, and in Glasgow on 23 September, ahead of the Treadstone range becoming available through Stax from January 2027.
