RENOVATION TRENDS FOR AW26 EMBRACE NOSTALGIA
It’s time for cocooning and making our homes the ultimate sanctuaries. Laura Rich, interior designer at Furniturebox, explains what the overarching mood for autumn/ winter ’26 is, and what it all boils down to from a cultural perspective.

eep colours, enveloping fabrics and rooms designed to make you want to stay in forever are the overarching mood. Micro-trend,
themed rooms are a thing of the past in 2026, we actually want to recreate a feeling in the home. The feeling for autumn/winter is cocooning, using layered textures, cosy, rich colour palettes, natural materials, and prioritising timeless, nostalgic decor that grounds us in comfort. We’re consuming a lot in our everyday lives, with digital fatigue, stress and burnout, and general over-consumption where we feel
exhausted and in need of some real escape from everything. With the cost-of-living crisis adding another layer, we need our homes to be a real safe space where we can actually relax and feel at home. The autumn/winter trends are all about emotional safety, whether it’s in nostalgic elements, comfortable colours, ‘texturemaxxing’, tactile and natural materials, we’re amalgamating everything that brings us comfort in our lives. This desire for comfort is exactly
the root of recent soars in mid- century modern interiors and the more niche trends like grandma- chic bedding; we’re taking elements
nostalgia in 2026, and in interiors, we’ve returned to oldy-worldy features that make our homes sanctuaries.
In autumn/winter 2026, we can expect to see all that lovely comfort of nostalgia but with a twist - merged with pops of brights and intentional colour for that old-new crossover of classic and contemporary we’ve been seeing everywhere this year. Think classic materials
reminiscent of nature; we’ll be seeing those natural walnut, rattan and oak tones for a grounding and timeless look and feel, along with more tactile textures like ribbed timbers and gloss finishes that are sensory and immersive.
of nostalgia and things that make us feel quite literally at ‘home’ and weaving them into our lives in the place we spend the most time. We’ve seen a heavy emphasis on
On this theme of comfort, we want our homes to be lived-in sanctuaries. We’re making our homes totally our own. We’ll see a continuation of those cosy, warm colour palettes (my favourite), with paint colours like terracotta and clay reminiscent of the Mediterranean style. We’re going for colours that aren’t stuffy but rather rich and cosy; earthy, deep tones like terracotta and ochre bring intimacy and comfort to the home – which is exactly on brand for autumn/winter 2026.
Easy Does It: How Red Gorilla® Backs Retailers
Red Gorilla® has spent more than four decades making high-quality Gorilla Tubs®, buckets and tools designed to withstand the demands of everyday working life. For stockists, though, a strong product is only half the story. What matters just as much is whether a supplier makes it easy to keep shelves full, move stock and get answers when they need them.
Helping retailers sell With its instantly recognisable colours and practical designs, the Red Gorilla® range already has plenty of visual impact on the shop floor. Retailers are also supported with point-of-sale materials to help bring ranges together, highlight key products and encourage customers to buy.
Beyond the shop floor, Red Gorilla® provides dedicated marketing support, giving retailers access to materials and advice to help them promote the range to their own customers. For retailers considering
introducing new products, there is also the Red Gorilla® Stock Turn Guarantee. Adding a new line inevitably involves an element of

risk, particularly when valuable cash can become tied up in stock. Red Gorilla® has such confidence in the strength of its range that it gives retailers the opportunity to introduce new products with greater reassurance, through the Red Gorilla® Stock Turn Guarantee. If products do not perform as expected, Red Gorilla® will arrange collection of the stock at its own cost. It is a practical approach designed to make it easier for retailers to broaden their range and test new opportunities without carrying all of the risk.
Service with a human face Sometimes good service comes down to something very simple: being able to speak to someone when you need them. Red Gorilla® customers can place orders and access support directly from a knowledgeable UK-based team who understand both the products and the markets they serve.
That service is backed by a sales team covering the UK, giving retailers access to local support whether they are looking to introduce a new range, review their existing product mix or simply need help with an order.
At a time when automated customer service is becoming increasingly common, Red Gorilla® continues to place considerable value on building genuine relationships with its retail customers.
Making trade easier
Red Gorilla® is also continuing to invest in making it easier for retailers to do business with the company, including the introduction of a new Trade Portal.
The portal will give stockists greater flexibility and convenience
when managing their Red Gorilla® business, complementing rather than replacing the personal service offered by the sales and customer support teams. It reflects a straightforward philosophy that has served the company for more than 40 years: develop products customers want, help retailers sell them and make doing business as simple as possible.
