Worksop Travis Perkins branch creates new jobs

British Coatings Federation launches online history archive at 110th year celebration

This year marks the 110th year since the inaugural meeting of The National Federation of Associated Paint, Colour and Varnish Manufacturers of the United Kingdom.

Travis Perkins is relocating to a bigger site from its current Worksop address. The new branch is set to open its doors on 11th July with the vision being the first choice for trade customers in Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire. The existing eight-strong

team will transfer to the new site, and Travis Perkins has recruited an extra eight colleagues for full- time positions, making a total of 16.

The new Worksop branch is

two acres in size and as part of Travis Perkins’ new ambitions to reduce carbon emissions by 90%, the site will include electric forklift trucks and electric charging points. These innovations will help to deliver on its ambition of decarbonizing its fleet and becoming a net-zero carbon producer. The site also boasts a Hire Service that allows customers to hire tools, plant and equipment and

more. Furthermore,

brand new Benchmarx kitchen display showroom offers a wide range of high-quality kitchen ranges, and a hard landscaping display, increasing Travis Perkins’ offering to customers.

As part of the celebrations, the British Coatings Federation (BCF) has created an online resource of the history archives of the many different associations that make up the BCF’s long history.

Annual reports, minute

books and photographs from paints, coatings and printing ink associations date back to 1911.

The archives are available to

preview on an online platform called ‘e-Hive’, a web-based collection cataloguing system. To access the online archive visit: www.coatings.org.uk/ history.aspx.

The physical collection is held at the BCF office and is now available to view in person. If you like to visit us to view our collection, please contact info@ bcf.co.uk for more information and to book. The BCF gathered its Past Presidents to help launch the

new history archive. The party were given a tour of the BCF office in Coventry and a chance to look through the extensive archive

of

and records of the association’s history.

dependent activities. Timeline activities can also be assigned to different team members, who are notified immediately. The timeline can be shared with the project team,

including staff, trade

contractors and clients, keeping everyone informed of due dates, to-do’s and schedule changes. “The Houzz Pro Timeline tool makes it easy to organise, track

timeline. The new dependency feature enables pros to indicate when the start of one item relies

on the completion of another, so that moving one activity on the schedule will also move the

elements of a construction or design project,” said Alon Cohen, Houzz co-founder and president. “Scheduling is one of the biggest challenges for our pro customers and they need a dynamic way to make schedule changes and quickly and easily inform all project stakeholders – from staff members to trade contractors to clients. The new dependency and assignable activity features make it easier for teams to stay on top of how changes affect the entire project schedule.”

Building materials increased by more than 10% last quarter, according to latest data

The average price of building materials and home improvement supplies in the United Kingdom increased by more than 10% between March and June, according to pricing data monitored by Buildiro.com, an online marketplace for UK merchants, tradespeople, and DIY enthusiasts. The biggest jump in retail prices was in wooden cladding, which registered a 15% spike from the previous quarter. Wall and floor tiles increased by an average of 14% (and as much as 30% for some product lines) across products that Buildiro.com monitors.

Other materials that surged during the period included sawn timber (13%), Vinyl flooring (10%), and garden-related items – such as outdoor furniture, paving stones, and some hand tools (6% to 10%). “Builders

and home-improvement hobbyists

in the UK have not been spared the impact of inflation, supply-chain challenges, and other causes of consumer price hikes,” said Luke Polach, Buildiro founder and CEO. “For an industry with razor-thin margins, every price hike, no matter how small, makes it that much harder to do business.”

The price hikes observed by Buildiro.com continues a trend of steadily increasing material costs in Britain. Buildiro.com helps builders navigate these cost surges by aggregating

the UK’s leading marchants and pinpointing the best deals. Eighteen of the country’s biggest online retailers – including B&Q, Tooled-Up, Plumbworld, Robert Dyas, Make My Blinds, and Lights.co.uk – are already part of the Buildiro affiliate program.
