DIY WEEK AWARDS 2022 WINNERS 2018

DIY Product of the Year Gripit Rhinofix from Charles Bentley

Gripit Rhinofix is a revolutionary plasterboard toggle fixing solution for heavy objects. The easy-to-use kit can secure items up to 150kg to hollow plasterboard, fibreboard and wood and has been tested for tensile strength with Hydrajaws, the world leader in tensions testing equipment. Gripit Rhinofix is perfect for fixed and cantilever TV brackets, kitchen cupboards, bathroom sinks, radiators/towel rails, etc. It uses a unique toggle fixing to distribute weight allowing users to fix disproportionally heaving items to plasterboard. Gripit Rhinofix uses a unique toggle fixing system that adjusts to the depth of your plasterboard and distributes weight more effectively than conventional fixings or plugs. It holds up to 150kg with no need for battens, wall modifications, or compromises which saves time, money and labour. The unique toggle fixing system allows Gripit Rhinofix to be installed in walls with extremely limited cavity space and the holding load is one of the best on the market. Gripit Rhinofix is exceptionally easy to use, meaning it’s loved by both DIYers and tradespeople alike, especially as the hold weight gives consumers more options choosing where to hang heavy items like large radiators. Gripit Rhinofix can be fitted in a few simple steps and can be used on plasterboard, fibreboard and wood making it the ideal fixing companion for a variety of situations. In addition, all Gripits, including Rhinofix are guaranteed for 25 years. They are made from Polyacetal which is ultra-strong and extremely lightweight and are designed to be completely removable and reusable which is often not the case with competitors’ products. Providing an instant solution to an enduring problem, Gripit

Rhinofix has been welcomed by tradespeople and DIYers alike. Gripit Rhinofix presents as a simple method of fixing extremely heavy stuff to plasterboard through its ease of use and high performance compared to similar products on the market at a competitive price. The reusable toggle

fixing is designed in the UK and the retail pack features eight 18mm fixing’s offering excellent value for money. Rhinofix is the latest innovation from Gripit a company invested in by Deborah Meaden in 2014 on BBC’s Dragon’s Den. The unique design makes GripIt Rhinofix one of the strongest plasterboard fixings available today. Holding extreme loads so users can trust that items are safe and secure every time.

Industry Personality of the Year

Martin Newsome May 2022 marked 50 years of Martin Newsome’s involvement in our industry. He first started when he joined his later father in the business and they became a two man band selling hand tools from their vans, mainly in the North of England to retailers. “I can honestly say I don´t know where the years have gone,” says Martin.

“I am very proud of the fact that across my three companies we now employ 34 people and export to 18 countries.

“My son is also involved in the hand tool business, and because the majority of our staff are staying their whole working life, we really are a family group across all three companies – Newsome Tools, English Chain and DFD – for which I am equally pleased as I recognise the importance of having a good team. “I have made some great friends and genuinely love meeting our customers, who I recognise as being the most valuable asset to our group,” says Martin. Martin is a very deserving winner of the DIY Week Industry Personality of the Year Awards and has no plans to retire. He’s still working 50 hours a week and believes the ‘harder you work, the luckier you get!’
