Be careful out there!
I think we are all suffering from Covid fatigue to a certain extent, and the pandemic has slipped a long way down the news agenda these days, especially with so much else going on in the world. But the fact is the virus is still out there and seems determined to make its presence felt. I’ve certainly been of the opinion that we have to learn to live with it, whilst taking all reasonable precautions of course. I’ve been quite lucky, as I haven’t been too badly affected by Covid over the last couple of years or so, until now that is. Just as life is starting to feel normal again, I’ve managed to catch it. And I’m not the only one. The infection rates are rising again, particularly amongst those who’ve managed to avoid it up until now. Luckily I seem to be fighting it off quite
well, although it has taken me over a week to recover and I’m still feeling the after effects, such as lack of energy and a complete loss of taste and smell. But the hardest part about the experience has been having to self-isolate in order to protect the rest of the family and so I’ve effectively become a prisoner in my own home, well bedroom actually. On the plus side, I have been able to concentrate on getting some work done, when I’ve felt up to it, and I’ve also been able to study the tired bedroom décor and make plans for what needs to be freshened up once I’m fully fit again. Something that has kept me positive and focused throughout this difficult period is writing up the details of our DIY Week
Awards winners and putting together the special event supplement which celebrates their achievements. The live awards event was a particular highlight for me this year, so it’s been a pleasure to recall their success and publish more information about the winning entries in the supplement, which you can find in the centre of this issue. I hope you enjoy it!
