HARTLEY BOTANIC’S RHS CHELSEA TRADE STAND WINS FIVE STAR AWARD

Hartley Botanic scoops an award at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show with a stand created to inspire the importance of beautiful spaces to individual wellbeing.

Flower Show since at least 1950 and, this year showed its handmade greenhouses and glasshouses in a new light – demonstrating just some of the great range of uses of its al fresco, light-filled structures that it can offer our gardens and our personal sense of wellbeing. Following last year’s success,

H the

stand went on this year to win the five star trade stand award once again. Tom Barry, Hartley Botanic’s managing director, said of its success: “The Director General’s Tradestand award is a huge privilege to receive

garden; whether time spent dining with friends, making space in the day to meditate, practising a hobby

Celebrating its 80th anniversary, Hartley Botanic is one of Britain’s oldest greenhouse manufacturers and was, to its knowledge, the first to develop and make entirely aluminium structures, representing a new class of greenhouse building in terms of practicality and engineering design. The company said Vincent and Norman Hartley’s drive and ambition to create the finest greenhouses money can buy is still central to the company’s ethos which specialises in handmade, made- to-order horticultural buildings which are made to truly stand the test of time.

Mr Barry described the thinking behind the structures at this year’s show which was aimed at the

greater need to improve wellbeing, a trend that has proved consistent with consumers in recent years: “Our approach this year was quite different, it featured two brand new structures specially previewed at RHS Chelsea 2019 and our greenhouses and glasshouses as both wonderful spaces for horticulture and for wider activities which contribute to our wellbeing.” The tradestand was designed by

Valentina Wyatt of Valentina Wyatt Garden Design, landscaped by RHS Chelsea veterans Stewart Landscape Construction and beautifully dressed with furniture and accessories from carefully curated suppliers including Graham and Green, Stoake and unique artisan craftspeople including potter Birdi Richardson. “We hope our tradestand really
