“Make sure your
employees know where to turn if they need a help- ing hand”
Founded in 1874
This week, with an issue to get to the printers and our annual awards event on Friday, I have to say, I genuinely wondered if I would get everything done in time. I’m not quite there yet, as I write this, but getting very close… That is why it gave me a real boost reading our latest instalment in this issue from Daley Hub’s Clive Daley in praise of women in business. Juggling a full-time job with my homelife, a very demanding three-year old, and now with another small person on the way, it does feel like I am spinning a lot of plates at times. And, I am in no doubt many women in the industry – whatever their personal situation – has felt the same at times. In terms of positive female role models, I have some great women working alongside me on DIY Week and I also owe a lot to my mother-in-law, who has allowed me to return to a job I love by providing childcare; despite her often having to keep up with the long hours I work. It’s always nice to feel valued – particularly if you are under pressure in other areas of your life – and that is something to bear in mind when reading the piece in this issue about the Rainy Day Trust. Don’t be too quick to skim past this and, as the headline says “Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth”. It’s a wonder what you can do to boost motivation and productivity within your workforce if they feel happy, supported and valued. And, guess what, the RDT is offering to help you do just that for free. All you need to do is get in touch with the Trust, get some more info, and make sure your employees know where to turn if they have an issue and need a helping hand. It’s that easy.
We are proud to sponsor the Rainy Day Trust
