AND FINALLY Selco tees off for Cancer Research
Selco Builders Warehouse’s Swansea branch has raised £11,000 for Cancer Research UK, in a charity golf day. Jason Delaney, deputy branch manager at Selco Swansea on Upper Forest Way organised the event, it saw 80 players attend - all with the aim of raising money for charity. “I’d like to give a huge thank you to everyone who attended our golf day, as well as those who
supported in other ways such as sponsoring holes and donating prizes. It was a brilliant, sunny day with some top golf on show – as well as one or two wayward shots,” he said. “To raise such a huge amount of money for a great cause is really pleasing. The tireless work of Cancer Research UK makes a tremendous difference to people with cancer and their families so to play a part in supporting their efforts is a real honour.” The money raised means Selco has contributed almost £100,000 to Cancer Research UK in 2023 alone, on top of the £200,000 donated to the charity last year. All money raised will help Cancer Research UK’s studies into the prevention and treatment of cancer through the work of over 4,000 doctors, nurses and scientists.
Toolstation reaches £2 million fundraising
Bridgwater based Toolstation has raised £2 million for Macmillan Cancer Support in just three years, after it became a partner to the charity in 2020. The funds raised will help Macmillan continue to do whatever it takes to provide vital support to people affected by cancer across the UK; the amount raised could support 32 Macmillan nurses for a whole year, helping people living with cancer and their families receive essential support. To mark the occasion, Toolstation’s managing director Angela Rushforth handed over a presentation cheque to George Michell and Rebecca Fanning from Macmillan Cancer Support on 31st August.
