Methven is welcoming the Government’s proposal to help households use water more effectively as part of its commitment to water sustainability.

he Government’s 25-Year Environment Plan, outlined by Environment Secretary George Eustice, includes placing mandatory water efficiency labels on products as well as new regulations that will see 110 litres of personal daily water consumption as a standard in all new homes. In line with the new guidelines, the Government will encourage local authorities to adopt the new optional minimum building standard for water consumption in all new builds where there is a clear local need, such as in water stressed areas. In addition, they will work to develop a roadmap that supports the installation of water efficient products to achieve greater water sustainability. There are concerns that the UK will experience severe water shortages and water-


stressed regions in the next 20 years due to climate change and population growth. As a result, the Environment Agency is urging everyone to reduce their daily water usage by 40 litres or more. Statistics suggest that each individual uses around 56 litres of water in the bathroom every day but taking simple measures can help households and businesses conserve water and money.

TURNBULL BOOSTS SINK SALES WITH BLANCO


ndependent Lincolnshire builders merchant Turnbull has been selling BLANCO for coming up to 10 years in its award-winning bathroom and kitchen showrooms.


Group showroom manager Olivia Hopkins says the most popular products are the Silgranit® sinks in particular the SONA 6S, SUBLINE & the extensive ETAGON range


“Across our group of showrooms, we have over 40 different displays combining both inset, undermount, stainless steel & Silgranit sinks, as well as a wide range of BLANCO taps,” she says. “In each of our showrooms we have working BLANCO displays. Each showroom has slightly different models on display with two of our showrooms having the BLANCO EVOL-S Volume measure tap” Hopkins says that part of the reason behind the supply partnership with BLANCO, is the public perception of the quality inherent in BLANCO’s German heritage. “We wanted to try something different to Franke. We sell a lot of German kitchens and appliances so this seemed the perfect accompaniment alongside what already works so well for

us. People tend to relate to the German quality of cars so having a full package German kitchen has really taken off for us. Having the mixture of displays across our group of showrooms gives our customers a flavour of what we can offer them and the quality of the products we like to sell.”


Regular deliveries, competitive pricing and multiple displays is proving effective for both Turnbull and BLANCO. Also, Hopkins says that Turnbull are kept up to date with new products from BLANCO. “We get all the colour samples we need and regular contact with the BLANCO sales managers. We get weekly deliveries and our orders are processed quickly,


with confirmations following shortly, so our internal admin team can make sure the right products are being sent for our customers.
