AND FINALLY Four go wild in Wales for charity
Four friends, all Travis Perkins colleagues, from North Wales have taken on a gruelling three- day 120 mile mountain bike challenge to raise money for Travis Perkins’ charity partner, Alzheimer’s Society.
Organised by Regional Director, Dafydd Jones, the challenge saw Jones and colleagues Andrew Craig, a Travis Perkins Account Manager, Rob Conde the Branch Manager of Wrexham, and Matt Peate the Wrexham Travis Perkins Hire Manager leave the Travis
North East that saw them finish at Travis Perkins in Caernarfon on the 11th April
The route took them over 16,400 feet of elevation covering some of North Wales’ toughest terrain, including the trails around The Denbighshire Moors and Gwydir Forest, and a challenging ride up to the summit of the highest peak in Wales, Eryri (Mount Snowdon).

Craig is no stranger to tough charity challenges. In 2010 he climbed Eryri every week for a year, raising £15,000 for Breast Cancer Campaign, then in 2012, the did it again every day for the month of September. His efforts saw him nominated for a charity award, and won him the opportunity to carry the Olympic Torch through his local town.
Leyland partners with Barnardo’s Building Hope Academy
Leyland has partnered with Barnardo’s and its Building Hope Academy to offer six young people 30 hours of work experience at its Streatham and Dulwich stores.
The Building Hope Academy is designed for young people aged between 16 and 24 with an Educational Health Care Plan, who are not in education, employment or training. Rebecca Knowles, children’s services manager at The Building Hope Academy, said: “We are so grateful to Leyland for their
support, in offering six of our learners work placements but also for their donation of products. “We work with young people who tend to be furthest away from the labour market, many of whom have complex needs and situations.
Russell Roof Tiles to help buy buses for Kenyan schools
Russell Roof Tiles is planning to raise money to help buy a new school bus for the Footprints Family charity, as well as heading to Kenya this summer to offer practical skills and support.
Established in 2008, The Footprints Family provide food, clothing, shelter and healthcare to vulnerable children and young people on the south coast of Kenya.
Managing director at Russell Roof Tiles, Andrew Hayward added: “This year our “Footprints six” are aiming to raise enough money to help buy a new bus for the charity. This is a great example of how our efforts for our Give4Good initiative can have a long-lasting legacy that provides financial support to charities for many years to come. “I’m incredibly proud of our team, who continue to do an amazing job, volunteering their time and efforts to help raise money that will make a real difference.”
Russell Roof Tiles started supporting the charity five years ago, when its staff raised £1,600 for Footprints with a walking challenge. This year six volunteers from across the UK including employees and partners are joining together with the aim of raising £5,000 for Footprints as well as traveling to Kenya for a week.

“We’re backed by a range of employers who support our learners with placements, workshops and CV writing skills. “Our six learners have really enjoyed their time with Leyland. For many of them, it was their first experience in the workplace and will really increase their confidence.”
Leyland has also provided around £6,000 worth of products for teenagers to use during their Construction Skills training. Martin Hastings, CEO at Leyland, said the company was
delighted to help the charity. “This is an excellent project and we have really enjoyed having the young people in Streatham and Dulwich. I know they have found the experience valuable.
“We were keen to help the charity further so decided to donate a wide range of materials that will improve their practical lessons no end.
“Giving back to the local community and helping people better themselves is a key part of our ethos.”
Resapol Foundation supports Band of Builders
The Resapol Foundation has donated £1,000 to the Band of Builders; the Foundation was set up with the aim of support individuals, charities, organisations and communities throughout the UK, aiming to make a lasting and positive difference to people’s lives.
Band of Builders was born in 2016 when their founder took to social media to ask
for help renovating the home of close friend and colleague Keith Ellick diagnosed with terminal cancer.
“The generosity of businesses and individuals never ceases to amaze us – and this is invaluable in enabling us to continue with practical projects to help members of the UK construction industry and their families who are battling illness or injury,” said Band of Builders CEO, Gavin Crane.
