BATHROOMS AND SHOWERS Saniflo doubles up at Installer Show

Saniflo is doubling its presence at the Installer Show this year - NEC in Birmingham on 25, 26 and 27 June, stand 4E22 - with a stand design that features Saniflo on one side and the Kinedo shower brand on the other.

A wide variety of pumps, macerators and lifting stations will be on display including models aimed at the commercial sector, such as the Sanifos underground lifting station and a Sanicubic GR – one of the larger floor standing lifting stations in the range. A working display of the popular Sanicubic 2 Pro floor standing pump range and the Sanicom grey water lifting station will also be on the stand. The domestic range will also be very well represented with a range of macerators, shower pumps, condensate pumps, sump pumps and two WCs with integrated macerators; the Saniflush and Sanicompact.

The Kinedo shower brand is most closely associated with the range of all-in-one shower cubicles, but also features a range of shower enclosures and lightweight cuttable shower trays. Walk-in models on display include the eye-catching Ekinox Duo in cobalt blue, along with a Kinequartz solo with smoked glass and a Smart Design Solo Nordic with its oak-look frame. The popular Smart Design enclosures with sliding and saloon doors will feature, whilst all models will be paired with Kinemooon, Kineline and Kinerock Evo trays in natural stone designs and in a range of 5 colours. The luxurious new Kinewall by Kinedo shower panels will also be installed in the showers using designs such as banana trees, white waves, herringbone and vertical wood.

STRIVING FOR SUSTAINABLE SHOWERING

With merchants across the country tasked with increasing their environmental efforts, it is essential that supply chains collaborate to drive reductions in energy and water usage.

n light of the government’s long-term ambitions to achieve Net Zero by 2050, the bathroom industry is determined to ‘go green’. Carbon emission reduction strategies are growing increasingly important, though it’ll take a collaborative effort from the industry’s key players to prepare for a more sustainable future.

To help homeowners reduce their water and energy consumption, it is crucial that the supply chain works cohesively and transparently, according to Daniel Lintell, sustainability manager at Triton Showers. He says: “First and foremost, manufacturers play a key role in the creation and delivery of bathroom appliances like electric showers, conducting significant research and development to introduce sustainable innovations. Incorporating technology that helps to reduce water and energy consumption without affecting a user’s shower experience, for instance, is on the rise.”

Triton’s next generation electric shower, ENVi®

, was designed with energy efficiency and associated cost reductions at the fore. While electric showers have long been considered an energy efficient choice, drawing on cold water mains to heat water on demand, previous models have left customers in the dark when it comes to monitoring water usage and cost per shower. Lintell says this means ENVi®

allows users

to monitor their activity through metrics such as estimated water and energy consumption, providing subsequent feedback designed to inspire cost-conscious behaviour. The shower’s eco-mode takes this a step further by encouraging users to reduce their shower time by one minute, a small habitual change that could make an unprecedented difference. “If just one per cent of UK

The crucial role of merchants Research conducted by Triton found that showering with an electric unit could save 29,000 litres of water per year than a mixer shower, creating the potential to save 300kg CO2e – the equivalent of driving 1,050 miles in a diesel hatchback. When using an electric shower, like ENVi®

, homeowners could therefore save a considerable amount of

households cut their daily shower time by one minute on average, this could save over 673million litres of water, equivalent to 270 Olympic swimming pools. It could also save nearly 6.7million kg CO2e, which would be the same as removing 3,950 cars from the UK’s roads,” he adds.

“It is also Triton’s first ClimatePartner certified product, demonstrating the business’ ongoing commitment to taking responsibility for its carbon emissions. Through this partnership, Triton has calculated the carbon footprint of the entire lifecycle of the ENVi®

and is investing in climate projects to fully compensate for these emissions. This work has been verified and accredited by ClimatePartner, an independent partner that has helped the manufacturer to identify suitable projects which reduce or remove carbon emissions.”

water, all while reducing energy consumption by up to 68% - generating long-term financial savings in the process.

Communication is key “Opting for partners that proactively evolve their manufacturing process and supply chain, like Triton, will also help merchants to make headway with their own sustainability initiatives. As more look to join the road to Net Zero, reporting on Scope 3 emissions, which consists of indirect emissions associated with an organisation’s entire value-chain, will be key,” Lintell continues. “Doing so accurately, however, is reliant on a holistic understanding of the supply chain, where merchants are aware of and promote the environmental impact of their stocked products to heating and plumbing fitters responsible for bathroom refurbishments across the country.”

Collectively striving for sustainable showering With a forecasted monthly rise in water bills posing a concern to homeowners, it’s understandable to presume that financial uncertainty and unprecedented volatility in the energy markets has placed the effort to increase sustainable action on the backburner. The bigger picture, however, is quite the opposite.

Lintell adds: “Upgrades in the bathroom space have a crucial role in boosting efficiency, especially when specifying electric showers. Stocking smart appliances like Triton’s ENVi® electric shower is the perfect solution to helping both cost-conscious homeowners reduce their energy bills and merchants in their own environmental efforts.“ BMJ
