The current reigning four-cross mountain bike national title holder, Hudsoon carries out most of his training at Chicksands Bike Park which is only a few miles from ACO’s UK head office in Shefford. Following on from a successful season last year, ACO will continue its support throughout the 2020 season. It will be a big year for Hudson, who will compete in numerous races around circuits both internationally and within the UK, in hopes of adding more titles to those he’s already achieved.


Covers donates materials to Chichester primary school


Covers Timber & Builders Merchants has donated materials to Jessie Younghusband Primary School in Chichester to help improve its outdoor area for the school’s pre-reception year group.


The company, which is located on Quarry Lane in Chichester, provided a generous amount of timber and sand to create a large sand pit play area. Lee Archdale, sales representative of Covers, said: “We are always keen to do whatever we can for local schools so we are delighted to have helped to create this sand pit for Jessie Younghusband Primary School. We hope the children enjoy using it for many years to come.”


Mandy Sadler, headteacher at Jessie Younghusband Primary School, added: “The sand pit has been a welcome addition to our playground and our reception class children have loved playing in the large area. We rely on companies like Covers to help with donations so we are extremely grateful for their support and generosity.”


Walsall wheelbarrows help give prostate cancer the “push”


The Walsall Wheelbarrow Company Ltd, have teamed up with charity Prostate Cancer UK to launch a wheelbarrow to increase awareness and raise funds. The Walsall Wheelbarrow Company Ltd have launched the UK’s first wheelbarrow designed to help Prostate Cancer UK, the charity fights to help more men survive prostate cancer and enjoy a better quality of life. Painted blue and with a label highlighting details of the cancer that kills one man every 45 minutes on the back of the barrow, the

hope is that the Company’s large customer base will help sell the barrows the length and breadth of Britain. Each barrow sold will both increase awareness as well as raise funds to help fight the disease. The Walsall Wheelbarrow Company will contribute £2 to the charity for each ‘Prostate Cancer UK’ barrow sold.


Simon Thacker, sales director at the Walsall Wheelbarrow Company said, ‘When we spoke to Prostate Cancer UK about making a barrow on their behalf, we initially thought it would be only to raise money, it seems the men who use our wheelbarrows in the building trade are the key


demographic target, the charity are trying to raise awareness with’ ‘Innovation runs through the entire company, from design, manufacture and of course, the product and in supplying this unique barrow. I would be so proud if a family business likes ours can make a difference and increase awareness and increase awareness of the disease that is rising in numbers at an alarming rate. The initial feedback from our customers has been phenomenal and their support is very much appreciated.


The barrows will be available in merchants who choose to stock them as of August 2020.

Selco makes some noise


Selco Builders Warehouse, one of the UK’s largest builders merchants, has named Global’s Make Some Noise as its official charity partner of the year. Global’s Make Some Noise helps small projects that support disadvantaged children and young people living with illness, disability or lack of opportunity, and their families. With the help of Global’s radio brands - Heart, Capital, Smooth, Classic FM, LBC, Radio X, Capital XTRA and Gold , Global’s Make Some Noise raises money and awareness for small charities that would otherwise struggle to be heard.


The new partnership will see Global’s Make Some Noise and Selco work together across a number of fundraising activities, events and volunteering opportunities this year.


Selco’s Business Conference saw £20,000 raised for the charity and Radio X presenter Johnny Vaughan made a special appearance.


Selco has sponsored the national charity’s annual appeal with airtime on Radio X for the past two years. Selco also donates £1,000 to Global’s Make Some Noise each time a new store is opened.
