BMF turns to the lightside with latest Tools Forum

The BMF turns to the lightside with its latest product Forum which will focus on Tools, Fixings and Workwear/PPE.

To be chaired by Simon Bicknell, marketing director at Toolbank, the Tools, Fixings and Workwear Forum will meet for the

first time on 7 July at BMF’s head office in Coventry. BMF CEO, John Newcomb said: “Simon is the ideal Chair for our latest Forum. He has worked in different commercial roles within the tool trade for over 40 years, as a retailer, manufacturer and distributor, and has a wealth of experience to share.”

Simon said: “We know that products like tools, workwear, PPE and fixings are a relatively small element of a merchant’s business, but they are absolutely fundamental to every trade and task, so it will be good if we can help raise their profile.” The first Forum will include speakers from Stanley Black & Decker, Dickies, Reisser, Band of Builders – a registered charity set up to help members of the UK construction industry battling illness or injury through practical projects - and Rachel Fryer from Merritt & Fryer, winners of the Lightside Showroom of the Year in the 2019 Builders Merchants Awards.

Peter said: “It was an honour to be appointed in 2014 and I enjoyed great support from the membership for which I am very grateful. While there have been challenges, I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working with John Newcomb, the BMF team, my fellow

Board Directors and, of course, the

members who I will miss.

Richard has been an active participant in the Building Materials Supply industry for nearly three decades. Throughout this time, he has been an enthusiastic supporter of the BMF, speaking at numerous meetings and conferences and sponsoring activities. He is honoured to be

a member of the Worshipful Company of Builders Merchants, currently serving on the Court and hopes to become Master in 2022.

Much of Richard’s career has been with ACO. He is now Vice- Chairman of ACO Technologies plc and a Senior Manager of the global ACO Group, based in northern Germany. Prior to this he was the Managing Director of ACO’s UK and Ireland business for 22 years.

BMF to cut the cost of trade counter card payments

The BMF has partnered with

Paymentsense, the leading provider of card payment solutions for businesses in the UK and Ireland, to cut the cost of trade counter card payments.

The new service for BMF members is designed to simplify the merchant’s card payment process, as well as reducing costs. The

service is already saving one early adopter around £350 a month on card transactions at a single site. Paymentsense combines cutting edge technology with the ability to design their service around each client’s needs, so they are not charged for elements they don’t use. Nor is there any charge for terminal rentals, and all funds arrive in the client’s bank account on the following business day.

Richard Ellithorne, BMF Membership Services Director, said: “Having looked at a number of providers, we chose to partner with Paymentsense, because their dedication to service excellence reflects the BMF’s mission to help our members build excellence within their business.”
