BARTOLINE GAINS GOLD ECOVADIS RATING

D

ecorating sundries manufacturer Bartoline has secured a Gold EcoVadis Sustainability rating. Following its achievement in reaching Bronze in 2022, Bartoline set itself the target of achieving Gold EcoVadis sustainability status by 2024. The Gold Ecovadis standard places the organisation in the top 5% of EcoVadis rated companies in the paints, varnishes and similar coatings, printing ink and mastics manufacturing sector.

EcoVadis provides the leading solution for monitoring sustainability in global supply chains. Their methodology is based on international sustainability standards such as Global Reporting Initiative, United Nations Global Compact, and ISO 26000 standard. The EcoVadis assessment evaluated Bartoline on 21 sustainability criteria across four core themes: environment, labour & human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. The Gold Sustainability rating is classed as being ‘Advanced’ and confirms how successful Bartoline have integrated the principles of sustainability into their organisation and management systems.

It further reinforces the policies and tangible actions taken on major issues, as well as Bartoline’s comprehensive reporting, innovative practices and external recognition. “Personally, I am really pleased with everyone’s contribution to making improvements across the business.” said Bartoline managing director Paul Robbins. “Receiving an external endorsement with a reputable leader such as EcoVadis reinforces our credibility and trust that our customers and suppliers can have in our business systems.”

MONTY MIRACLE CLEANS UP T

he new exterior cleaning product, Monty Miracle Patio Cleaner, will eliminate

black spot, algae, lichen and other organic stains on most external hard surfaces such as stone, wood, plastic, concrete and coated metals. An ideal add-on sales opportunity for merchants, it keeps driveways, patios, walls and other exterior surfaces looking as good as new. The

chemical liquid solution is simply applied to the surface then left for 6 - 10 minutes before rinsing – the formulation eliminates organic growth and organic staining in minutes without an invasive jet wash that can damage surfaces. A garden hose rinses away the solution with no need to apply any brute force or tireless scrubbing.

Created by Martin Beaumont, who combined his experience of working with English Heritage and Shell, the aim was to offer a chemical cleaner that is easier for consumers and professionals to use and kinder to surfaces, with better, longer lasting results. Perfect for rendered walls, brick, wooden decking, stone and patios, it neutralises

following the process and is 100% biodegradable so can be hosed off onto the grass or soil leaving no environmental footprint. Beaumont says: “I’ve worked in the cleaning industry with wide varieties of surfaces for years and I find it heart-breaking that so many people use aggressive jet washing to clean their drives and patios: not only does it destroy sealants between tiles, it removes the surface layer of stone, leaving it exposed and vulnerable to further damage and decay, ruining surfaces natural lustre. Our alternative is proven to offer a simple, gentle, more effective solution.” BMJ • www.montymiracle.co.uk

“We have made vast progress in our approach to improve policies, actions and results across each of the four pillars.” said Alan Garrigan, Bartoline’s Head of Business Systems and Improvement. “Our significant strengthening in labour & human rights and the environment has been a fundamental step to achieving the Gold rating and we are delighted to have accomplished this award in such a short, projected timeframe.” Bartoline products include decorating sundries and cleaners, ready-mix and powder fillers, wallcovering adhesives, paint strippers and sealants. Last year, the well-known decorating sundries brand launched a new over the counter trade range called ‘1876 The Professional Range’ for distribution through builders’ merchants.
