AND FINALLY
Rainy Day Trust steps up for Mad March Million
Once again in March this year, industry charity the Raindy Day Trust is running the Mad March Million as a fundraiser and to act as a boost to mental health. It’s a simple concept - teams of 3 or 4 aim to take a million steps between them in the month of March; they can run, jog or just walk, but the important part is getting out and about every day. 10,000 steps a day is a simple and effective way of burning a few calories, and giving mental health a boost. Any activity that involves bilateral movement, using both sides of the brain to coordinate activity, helps to process the stresses and strains of the day. And just being outdoors in the fresh air is good for one’s health.
This year, the Trust will send out a t-shirt to show participants are doing their bit to beat mental health challenges
and supporting the industry charity too. There’s a £12 a head registration fee. To register your teams drop an e-mail to
bryan@rainydaytrust.org.uk and start the fundraising. There’s a bottle of champagne when a team passes £1,000 raised, and trays of brownies and other cakey delights for the team that manages the highest average number of steps taken in the course of the month.
Navigator hands over year’s fund-raising total to Sands, Bedfordshire
Members of the Navigator team recently have handed over more than £5,000 to the Sands, Bedfordshire charity, the results of a year’s worth of fundraising. SANDS is the stillbirth and neonatal death charity, supporting anyone affected by the death of a baby, before, during or shortly after birth for as long as they need support. The money was raised by a number of events - the virtual Bedford to Beijing walk, the Charity Golf Day held at
Pavenham Golf Club in July, a Charity Buffet, a number of dress-down days, Guess the Amount of Sweets in the Jar and raffles, as well as the Great Navigator Bake Off. Managing Director Andrew Smith says he’s proud of the employees in the fundraising team and with what they have achieved over the past twelve months: “A company thrives on the quality of its employees and we are blessed to have a team of people willing to give their time and resources to help locally based charities that are struggling for funds at this difficult time.”
