TRANSPORT AND MATERIALS HANDLING
industry has historically been male-dominated, her own experience has shown her that women can thrive in such environments. “Representation is important, and I’m proud to think that my roles within my career and through my hobby of women’s American football might inspire others to push boundaries,” she says. She believes it is important for young girls to see women in a range of roles to help them envision a future where they can pursue careers in construction, logistics, or any other industry.
No stereotypes
For women considering entering logistics or transport management, Llewellyn has simple but encouraging advice: “If any other women are considering working in a male-dominated industry, I would always say to go for it. “Don’t be dissuaded by ancient stereotypes and misconceptions, and put your all into something that will challenge you, because that’s where the biggest rewards are.” She recognises that the construction industry presents its challenges, but she also sees the evolving landscape as an opportunity. “The construction industry is difficult, not because I’m a woman, but because it’s an industry that is changing and evolving,” Lynsey adds. “And this presents huge opportunities for people ready to reap the rewards.”
As Llewellyn reflects on her career and
the success of the Transport Hub, it’s clear that she has played a key role in Jewson’s ability to evolve and innovate. The launch of the Transport Hub represents a significant milestone in Jewson’s efforts to improve its logistics operations, and Llewellyn’s leadership has been instrumental in its success. She looks forward to expanding the Hub model to other
parts of the UK, where it can help create more efficient and customer-centric operations. “I’m so excited for the challenge of leading the Transport Hub,” Llewellyn says. “We’re trialling something completely new, and there’s still so much to learn. But I’m confident that this model will serve as a blueprint for other parts of the UK.” BMJ
