LANDSCAPING

TOP PRODUCTS FOR SUMMER NIGHTS

Summer means warm evenings, endless BBQs, lighter nights and more people choosingto spend their time outside. Which means builders merchants need to be aware of the latest landscaping trends and the essentials to have in stock this season.

W

ith a recent rise in consumer demand for the product style, the need for merchants to be selling porcelain paving has

never been so high, as homeowners search for products which deliver a luxury aesthetic, durability and low maintenance. Among those predicting that this trend is only going to continue to grow is Talasey’s group sales & marketing director, Malcolm Gough.

“High-quality porcelain, not only delivers on style, but it is also long lasting and durable” he says. “The products in our Vitripiazza range are made from high-quality vitrified Italian porcelain, as opposed to cheaper options, which are made from vitrified ceramics and may only have a layer of porcelain on the top. With a wide range of textures and styles to choose from, merchants’ customers won’t be stuck for choice.”

Talasey recently extended the Vitripiazza range to introduce 12 new, additional styles, which are suitable for a variety of applications including patios, paths, driveways, wall cladding, steps and more. This gives Vitripiazza 17 ranges with 58 colours, offering a variety of different size formats and finishes. Gough believes that porcelain paving is set to be more than just a summer craze, so to meet the demand merchants should consider having these materials in stock all year round, in a variety of options. “We have a wide range of accessories to accompany the Vitripiazza

range including; Pavetuf blades for cutting porcelain, priming slurry and jointing options plus a Pavetuf squeegee, to enable merchants to offer a full kit solution to their customers projects” he says.

The green, green grass The summer heatwave of 2018 took its toll on the nation’s grass, leading to discoloured, dry and scorched lawns, which looked unattractive. However, aside from ruined greensward, Gough says that the heatwave did have a silver lining - it helped to boost an increase in the sales of artificial grass, as landscapers looked for ways to provide a hassle-free, low maintenance solution to their customers. “High-quality products such as our Luxigraze artificial grass, ensures that lawns look stunning all year round, with no need for mowing or watering. So, homeowners can spend more time enjoying the outdoors and less time tending to the garden” he says. “On the trade side, landscapers can benefit from a quick and easy fit, as artificial grass is simple to install.” British weather remains as unpredictable as ever, and there is no guarantee that this summer will be a scorcher. However, one thing is certain, according to Gough - artificial- grass is going to be popular again. “As well as being easy to install, we offer a range of easy to use Luxigraze accessories including Luxigraze adhesive, jointing tape and U-pins giving merchants the opportunity to provide a full-service solution

to builders and installers, making it easy for the trade to get the job done, with all they need from one place.”

Protection

Accidental mishaps such as spilt drinks and dropped food on new patios are inevitable and irritating. Although they may not be able to prevent them from happening, Gough says that merchants can benefit from offering products that will protect the products they are selling.

“A variety of products are 38 www.buildersmerchantsjournal.net July 2019

available on the market to provide this level of protection,” he says. “At Talasey, we offer a range of innovative solutions in our Pavetuf range including high-end performance sealers and cleaners.”

Sealers add a vital layer of protection to preserve the look of paving and delay stone products from soaking up any spillages, giving the homeowner that extra bit of time to clean up. Some products require a minimum 8 week wait, to allow for potential efflorescence to surface, before freshly laid paving can be sealed, extending the time required to complete a project, however, Gough points out that Pavetuf sealants are fully breathable and so can be applied straight away, once the paving has been laid.

“The Pavetuf Cleaners provide customers with a solution to support the removal of every-day dirt and grime - and are made from formulated biodegradable components that won’t harm the environment” he adds. “We have a wide range of cleaners on offer, from the Pavetuf Deep Cleaner that removes stubborn grease stains from stone and clay, to the Green-Off Cleaner for getting rid of moss and algae, without damaging Pavetuf sealed surfaces.” BMJ
