DRAINAGE & HEATING
JDP PUTS SUSTAINABILITY IN THE PIPELINE
BMJ talks to JDPipes about branch investment and the company’s growth
S
pecialist drainage distributor JDPipes has opened a new flagship branch in Bradford. With a network of 26 JDP merchant branches across the UK, the company aims to offer customers one-stop shop, providing not just products but comprehensive solutions for diverse projects.
JDPipes head of commercial Tom House, says: “The recent flagship branch opening in Bradford, West Yorkshire, is a prime example of our commitment to growth.
“This £3 million investment marks the company’s 26th branch in the UK and is strategically located on the Euroway Trading Estate for ease of access. Occupying 2.75 acres, this flagship branch is the largest site outside of our Carlisle Head Office and is equipped with state-of-the- art facilities. Additionally, our investment in our delivery fleet further underscores the company’s commitment to efficiency and customer service. The addition of a state-of-the-art 26-tonne HIAB vehicle and nine cutting-edge delivery vehicles, all proudly adorned with JDP’s distinctive Lion logo and “Nature’s Network” strapline, is geared towards optimising delivery efficiency and ensuring timely service.” He also said that sustainability is “embedded in JDP’s DNA”, with the company incorporating sustainable practices to reduce the environmental impact of both its products and business activities. “For example, JDP’s AXEDO is 100% recyclable and boast impeccable green credentials, reducing installation time and costs,” House says.
“The ULTRA3 system is made from at least 40% recycled material; too, is a marvel of sustainable drainage, fulfilling a dual purpose of efficient water management and flood prevention. “The RAINBOX system, too, is made from fully recycled PP. These core product ranges make up a complete system and all can be used as part of Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems.” House explains that JDPipes’ recent growth is a testament to its adaptability and innovation, and that the industry is poised for sustained growth, driven by increased awareness of efficient water management and sustainable solutions.
“While the industry is evolving positively, JDP recognises areas for enhancement. Concerns include the environmental impact of traditional materials and the need for efficient access fittings,” he says. “Traditional approaches often lead to increased costs, time, and carbon footprints. JDP is addressing these concerns head-on through innovation that both enhance worker safety and contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions on projects. Our journey is one of continuous innovation, sustainability, and collaboration.” BMJ
WORCESTER BOSCH LAUNCHES £3,000 CLEAN HEAT CASHBACK PLEDGE
W
orcester Bosch plans to introduce an exclusive new Clean Heat Cashback Pledge to support consumers and
installers alike with the transition to Bosch electrified heat pumps and hybrid systems. The Clean Heat Cashback Pledge will be introduced alongside the implementation of the Government’s proposed Clean Heat Market Mechanism (CHMM), which will impose fines on boiler manufacturers based on their boiler sales to encourage the adoption of heat pumps. Carl Arntzen, CEO of Worcester Bosch said: “The start of 2024 is not just a fresh start, it also means that the UK is one step closer to its net zero 2050 target.
“If we are to succeed, then lower carbon heating technology - including heat pumps - needs to be more accessible to consumers. “By our company giving up to a total of
£3,000 Clean Heat Cashback on qualifying installations to support consumers and installers, we hope that more households will view heat pumps as a viable alternative to their current heating systems, as well as future-proofing their homes for lower carbon heat. We believe that this kind of incentive is exactly what the boiler levy arising from the Clean Heat Market Mechanism should be used for.”
If the CHMM is introduced into law as set out in current
Government proposals, from 1 April 2024 Worcester Bosch will be offering cashback to consumers who choose to invest in a Bosch heat pump or hybrid system as well as additional cashback to installers.
The Government has not yet confirmed when February 2024
