Tobermore grows success at Keyline Conference


Chandlers, BG Romerils and Arnold Laver join NBG


Landscaping supplier Tobermore won the award for ‘Business Growth’ at the recent Keyline 2020 Conference, held at the International Conference Centre, Telford. Keyline are the largest supplier of civils, drainage and heavy building materials to the UK construction industry.


Commenting on the win, David Henderson, managing director at Tobermore said “This award is an incredible achievement in our first year of trading with Keyline, and fantastic recognition for the team at Tobermore as this award is voted for by Keyline staff”.


Saniflo moves house


Three new businesses have joined independent merchant buying group the National Buying Group this month, bringing significant growth to the NBG portfolio. Specialist timber merchant Arnold Laver is part of the National Timber Group, brings its fellow brands, North Yorkshire Timber, Thornbridge Sawmills, Rembrand Timber, Glow Insulation & Site Supplies Ltd and Scotia Roofing & Building Supplies on board as associate members. The National Timber Group has a combined turnover of £252m and 56


branches and is keen to improve and expand its product ranges. Chandlers Building Supplies also joins NBG this month as an associate of Parkers. BG Romerils, trading since 1950 and based in Jersey is the third business to join the NBG Partnership this month as a light-side Partner.


Both the National Timber Group and Chandlers are owned by Cairngorm Capital, the private equity firm that acquired Parker Building Supplies in March 2018. Chandlers joins the NBG from merchant buying consortium


Fortis, where Chandlers director Andrew Cope was formerly chairman.


Chandlers and Parkers - as well as the Fairalls and Stamco businesses acquired last year - are now part of a larger holding company within the Cairngorm portfolio called the Independent Merchant Group.


Travis Perkins


Travis Perkins plc, the UK’s largest merchanting group has sold its plumbing and heating distribution business, Primaflow F & P, to Newbury Investments (UK) Ltd, a specialist distribution group. In December 2018, Travis Perkins announced a strategy to simplify and focus on its trade businesses. The sale of Primaflow F&P is for cash consideration of £46m before working capital adjustments. The process is expected to complete at the end of January 2020 and the proceeds will be used to reduce Group net debt.


Primaflow F&P is a national wholesale distributor of branded plumbing and heating systems and has been part of the Travis Perkins Group since 2010 when Travis Perkins acquired the BSS group. For


Stelrad wins Graham award


Saniflo has moved to a new facility in Watford which brings together all the elements of the business - office, warehousing and showroom - under one, much larger roof.


The new premises in Colonial Way, Watford has extensive office space, a brand-new showroom, meeting rooms, staff break-out area, warehousing and plenty of parking. The building was selected with an eye on future growth; providing room to expand as the business grows.

Stelrad Radiators has won the Supplier Partner of the Year for 2019 from pplumbers merchant Graham.


Stelrad has invested heavily in its logistics organisation that ensures that more than 99% of all radiator orders are completed and delivered with 72 hours of orders being placed.


Stelrad’s national sales director David Bainbridge said: “Winning awards is always wonderful and to win one that recognises the excellence of our operation is even better.”


Wolseley sponsors Gas Safe App


Specialist merchant Wolseley is enabling all registered Gas Safe engineers to use Gas App free of charge instead of paying the £25 subscription charge, as part of a new sponsorship package.
