He adds that the barrier for the vast majority of big brand manufacturers thus far has been their existing production infrastructure. “These brands are


currently chained to plastic and this has changed very little over the years. Given this situation it’s no surprise that there’s been a general lack of enthusiasm and investment from them towards educating and incentivising consumers to use plastic alternatives.


“So now it’s time to change. Now is the time for merchants and retailers to start merchandising sausages on their shelves. By offering sausages as a credible alternative to plastic we can help contractors and tradesmen to evolve the way that they dispense their sealant and adhesive products. They deserve an alternative to the sea of plastic that they’re currently presented with when they walk into an outlet.”


Meanwhile, at TI Midwood (TIMco), it has been increasingly evident that customers are looking for quality multi- use products that can be used on more than one type of job, whilst still meeting safety standards against a backdrop of increasing environmental considerations across all industries, says product supervisor Joshua Lockett.

TIMco has launched its own foil packaging for storing sealants and adhesives. These are the first range of the company’s products to appear in the new foil packaging, but Lockett says the range will expand as the year continues.

The TIMco foils are currently available in its acetoxy silicone, premium LMN silicone, bathroom and sanitary silicone and acrylic caulk products.


“Our customers are showing us that the demand from their end users to have fewer products that can do more, whilst still delivering high quality results, is growing,” Lockett says.


“Our hybrid adhesives, such as the Crystal Clear grab adhesive, are therefore very popular. The product is an adhesive which eliminates the need for permanent support and can be painted over almost immediately, saving time and delivering great results. “However, our most popular sealant and adhesives product is the TIMco Multi-Fix Grip & Fill direct bond adhesive.
