BMJ INDUSTRY AWARDS 2021 SPONSORED BY

ome industries are better than others at the whole networking thing and I’d say that the 2021 BMJ Industry Awards showed that the merchanting industry is right up there with the best of them. The glittering gala lunch, hosted by Gabby Logan, celebrated the winners across the sector and they certainly deserved to be celebrated. The hard work and dedication shown by everyone over the past 18 months prove that, when it matters, those who can, roll up their sleeves and get on with the job.
The awards are voted for by the industry, from a shortlist of nominations made by people in the industry. The fact that there were so many votes cast, and so many nominations, is testament to the talent in the sector. It was, as usual, an absolute pleasure to be able to preside over the day and share in the excitement of the winners and the heart- felt congratulations they all received from everyone there, whether competitors, colleagues or friends.
It was a privilege also to be able to announce the new name of our National Rising Star Award, henceforth to be called the Maddie Rose National Rising Star Award, in memory of Maddie Durdant-Hollamby, and fitting that this year’s recipient was a member of the Travis Perkins family. Without our sponsors, Blue Rock, Brett Martin, Encon Insulation, Geberit, Hanson Cement, Knauf Insulation, Lakes Showering Spaces, Mannok, SIG, Xtratherm and Wilson Brook, we would not have been able to put on such a successful event. And without the commitment of everyone who entered, nominated and voted, we wouldn’t have had anything to sponsor. So, thanks one and all, and see you again for the 2022 event on September 9.
