OXO reinforces commitment to 1% for the Planet by volunteering at FareShare O
XO has reinforced its charitable commitment to 1% for the Planet, by volunteering
at FareShare, a UK charity focused on reducing food waste through the redistribution of surplus food to communities in need. Members of the OXO UK sales team, Louisa Collins, and Jasper Bulckens were given the opportunity to experience the work that FareShare does on a daily basis, visiting the FareShare hub in Ashford, Kent, where they learned how the charity collects surplus food from supermarkets and suppliers to support those in need. Maria Spagnuolo, EMEA Senior Marketing Manager at OXO, commented: “Our UK team is incredibly passionate about the work Foodshare does and was thrilled to be able to experience the
so being able to work alongside the charity to collect food and redistribute it was a very proud moment for Louisa and Jasper. “We look forward to visiting the hub again and encouraging more volunteers to join in this vital work. Together, we can help reduce food waste and support communities across the UK.” They were also introduced to the concept of ‘gleaning,’ a practice where FareShare works directly
with growers to harvest fresh produce that would otherwise go to waste. At a nearby farm, Ms Collins and Mr Bulckens joined the FareShare team in picking apples from a local orchard. Together, they gathered 35 boxes of apples, which were then distributed to local food banks, helping to provide fresh fruit for the community.
