ADVECO


Ardent is a new range commercial electric boilers from Adveco. It can be combined with heat pump systems to provide a high-temperature energy source, or, as part of an indirect hot water system, it can help eliminate scale build-up commonly seen on direct electrical immersion heaters. Encompassing wall-hung and fl oor-standing variants with heat outputs from 9 to 100 kW, Ardent provides an easy to integrate, high capacity, reliable, and compact response for electric hot water and central heating demands in commercial buildings. “Designed to serve an indirect water heater or heating system, multiple electric heating elements immersed into Ardent’s integrated water storage tank provide a rapid and reliable source of thermal energy for those seeking to avoid a reliance on gas energy supplies,” said Bill Sinclair, technical director, Adveco.

GILBERTS Liverpool’s largest offi ce block – the Capital


Building – is undergoing a full interior refurbishment in which a range of Gilberts grilles and diff users have been used.


Fundamental to the upgrade of the 410,000 sq ft, 11-storey 1970s building is a total reconstruction of its HVAC, to create an environment adapted to the changing offi ce needs post-Covid. More than 1,350 swirl diff users have been installed to handle air circulation, providing separate supply via Gilberts GSFC diff users and extract via Gilberts’ GSXC diff users. All have been positioned behind perforated grilles in new ceilings to deliver fl exible, comfortable working spaces without hot or cold spots for the new tenants – including the Home Offi ce , Crown Commercial Services and Ministry of Justice. CARLO GAVAZZI


Carlo Gavazzi has extended its range of RSGD compact easy to use 3-phase soft starters by off ering Modbus communication for real- time monitoring and communication of energy consumption, voltage, current and other electrical variables.


The RSGD series is suited to AC induction motors rated up to 100 Arms and comes with monitoring, protection and self-learning features in a 45mm IP20 housing and are suitable for fi xed speed motors up to 45Amp (22kW).


The soft starters are compatible with IE3 motors and can provide a 50% reduction to a direct online (DOL) start. Starting such motors via contactors may result in currents as high as 15 times the rated motor current, increasing the occurrence of electrical and mechanical disturbances. The RSGD soft starter series reduces the starting current down to 3 – 4 times the rated motor current, resulting in smoother starting and stopping of motors, thereby increasing the lifetime of the motor and reducing electrical.

• GT1F 04 SCQF Level 5: Fire and Smoke Damper Certifi cate The decision by the Standard Setting Body will see all successful candidates of these two qualifi cations issued with a Blue SKILLcard, meaning they will have met the Construction Leadership Council’s directive that all skilled occupations should achieve the minimum level of competence and compliance. Both qualifi cations are based on the relevant National Occupational Standards (NOS) for each occupation. NOS describe the skills, knowledge and understanding needed to undertake a particular task or job to a nationally recognised level of competence.
