MIKROFILL
The Sir Jack Hayward Ground is the fi rst team training and academy base of Premier League football club Wolverhampton Wanderers. It features two high-quality under-soil heated pitches, an indoor pitch, a fully equipped gymnasium and a hydrotherapy pool. West Midlands contractor, Lord Combustion Services, proposed the replacement of the existing PU equipment with a pre-commissioned Mikrofi ll pressurisation package. This included two 700l expansion vessels, two service drain valves and a Mikrofi ll 3 PU unit. The pre-commissioning includes the setting of the nitrogen/air charge in each of the vessels to match the cold fi ll parameter on the Mikrofi ll unit. This ensures the vessels absorb the correct amount of volumetric expansion when the system operates at its designed fi nal working pressure.

KINGSPAN
GRH Food Company’s latest expansion is set to double its production capacity with the creation of a Cheese Innovation Centre to test new trends for blends, fl avours and high nutrition cheeses. Overseen by mechanical contractor, DD Cooling, 800 m2 of the Kingspan KoolDuct System was installed on the air handling units by delivery partners, Holders Sheet Metal. Ductwork fabricated from the Kingspan KoolDuct System can
help to reduce operational costs as it is capable of reducing air– leakage rates to a fraction of those typical of rectangular sheet metal ductwork, in addition to limiting heat transfer, which will help to maintain a controlled temperature for the cold rooms. The system can also weigh up to 75% less than ductwork constructed from galvanised sheet steel and insulated with mineral fi bre.

TEDDINGTON
Teddington has launched a unique low-pressure warning device to prevent unnecessary boiler shut-downs and heating system damage. PressureSentry can also help engineers save money on unnecessary call outs. The low- cost device is ideally suited for combi-boiler heating systems and screws into the top of a standard domestic radiator to monitor the system pressure. The device can be quickly installed by engineers during routine service calls without draining the heating system.
When the pressure falls below a pre-set level (1 bar), the battery- operated device emits an audible, 360-degree visual alarm. The sound can be muted but the fl ashing indicator stays on until the system pressure has been reinstated. Homeowners can then arrange for the system to be re-pressurised as part of a routine call-out.

REZNOR
On October 31, Reznor opened its new distribution centre (DC) in Wervik, Belgium. The new facility is equipped with modern
offi ce spaces and a showroom area, showcasing products from the Reznor portfolio.
In addition to product storage, the DC will also provide spare parts and servicing for existing and historical Reznor products.
The ceremonial ribbon was cut by Bruno Biasiotta, chief operating offi cer of Reznor’s parent company, Nortek Global HVAC.
LOCHINVAR
Lochinvar has enhanced its highly successful Knight range of water heaters, which now features a specially designed new type of low NOx burner. Available in four models, these water heaters provide storage capacities ranging from 108-358l with recovery rates of 140-290l per hour based on a temperature rise of 50°C. The new Knight models produce between 22mg/
kWh and 48mg/kWh, comfortably inside the ErP requirement of 56mg/ kWh. The LGL75 model, which delivers the best result at 22mg/ kWh, also qualifi es for the maximum two BREAAM credits available for low emissions. Lochinvar’s new low NOx range provides a convenient, cost-eff ective and ErP compliant alternative for replacement applications where an upgrade to condensing may be technically diffi cult or not economically viable.

STOKVIS
Locations such as pubs, restaurants, sports pavilions and all commercial buildings of similar size are proving to be popular applications for the Econoplate BV Series of semi-instantaneous hot water units, thanks to their responsive and high performance, compactness and lower capital cost compared to traditional solutions. The recently launched Econoplate BV Series presents specifi ers with a wide choice of
sizes and outputs to suit premises with modest plant room space and medium levels of hot water demand. These are met by combining one of the manufacturer’s long proven Econoplate plate heat exchangers with diff erent sizes of storage vessel. The hybrid unit takes up less space than installing a separate Econoplate PHE, and could cut capital cost by £2,000 or more.
