From the editor Heat

pumps in focus

T

he adoption of heat pumps is a very hot subject at the moment as the Government seeks to achieve

its decarbonisation targets. But what are some of the newest products available for the commercial sector?

Our biannual Heat Pump Supplement sets out to answer these questions as two prominent heating manufacturers announce their soon to be launched solutions. These and others in the heat pump guide will no doubt play a crucial role in helping commercial buildings on the path to Net Zero. The supplement offers insight into both air source and ground source heat pumps and further sets out the state of the domestic heat pump industry with the help of Phil Hurley, chair of the Heat Pump Association (HPA). The Heat Pump Supplement starts on page 23. • Schools are consistently under

pressure juggling tight budgets and managing expectations on good ventilation and heating, particularly in older schools. The solutions available are many, but a firm plan is needed to get it right. This month our focus on schools considers the options and how to make them achievable. There’s also plenty more on water heating and fans, boilers and maintenance.

ENTRIES OPEN FOR HVR AWARDS 2022 T

he HVR Awards – the prestigious scheme for the recognition of excellence from across the heating and ventilating sector is now open

for entries. Later this year, the industry event will induct a new

wave of winners into the prestigious ‘Hall of Flame’ at the hotly-anticipated awards ceremony. But the best news is that this time we’re back LIVE, so clear your calendars.

Get your entries ready now

Organised by Heating & Ventilating Review publisher, Datateam Business Media, the HVR Awards has served as a platform for the very best products, brands and businesses from across the sector for over a decade – and you can be in with a chance of winning a coveted ‘Flamey’ trophy at the 2022 event. With an all-encompassing array of categories from Commercial/Industrial Ventilation Product of the Year, to Commercial/Industrial Heating Product of the Year, Wholesaler/Distributor of the Year and beyond, you’re sure to find your opportunity to shine. There are also a few new categories to look out

for this year. Firstly, to account for the demand from the domestic heating and ventilation sectors, we are introducing both a Domestic Heating Product and a

Domestic Ventilation Product of the Year. These two awards are open to the most innovative heating or ventilation solutions available to the domestic market that are available for the UK market. The HVR Awards will also reward the most

promising Apprentice of the Year Award to offer incentive to the industry’s skills drive. Some of last year’s hotly contested awards are

returning. Most notably is the Heat Pump Product of the Year recognising innovation in the world of heat pumps which are set to play such a significant role in the decarbonisation drive. The Collaboration Award recognises examples of team work that has delivered outstanding results on an HVAC project. The award is open to HVAC manufacturers working in collaboration with contractors or consulting engineers. Finally, the HVR Awards are reinstating the Net

Zero Hero Award which will go to the company that has made a significant contribution to introducing low carbon technology to a commercial/residential building leading to the reduction of carbon emissions. Entries for this year’s scheme are now open, so

now is the time to start preparing your submissions and gathering supporting documents to put yourself in the pole position. To enter, go to www.hvrawards.com/enter
